Former late-night host and podcaster John Stewart gave credit where credit is due, and didn’t seem entirely opposed to the premise.
The notorious left-wing comedian was on the verge of praising Republicans for forcing Democrats to walk the walk when it comes to their beloved sanctuary cities.
“The most brilliant move the Republicans ever did was, you know, send two busloads into New York City. New York City, we’re all, ‘This is who we are — we are a sanctuary. Ellis Island, we are a city of immigrants,'” Stewart said in a clip shared by Jason Cohen on X.
NEW: Jon Stewart says Republicans bussing migrants to sanctuary cities was “BRILLIANT”

Stewart and his guest emphasized that Republicans persisted in sending busloads of immigrants to NYC and other Dem-run “sanctuaries” despite vehement opposition and backlash. And in the end, the strategy worked.
Stewart added that the GOP was also “brilliant in the sense of saying that ‘this is what we’re dealing with every day in much smaller places.’”
Gee, ya think?
Plenty of X users agreed with Stewart’s assessment:
It exposed that sanctuatary cities were just virtue signaling. They did not actually mean it.

It’s almost like they figured it out. Illegal immigration isn’t good. Unless you want fake votes. Which is the whole strategy. Which is why it’s gonna be impossible to get most of these people out of the country.

It was all good until they actually had to live up to their words lol. Well played!

Exactly… “This was supposed to be YOUR problem, Texas. Not ours!”
Well if you want to be a sanctuary City then you’re going to get treated like it Sanctuary City.

Governor Abbott bussed a few thousand to sanctuary cities, but it was NGOs and charities who bussed the most. No one can just haphazardly send an illegal to a sanctuary city, they must be asked first. Millions of illegals told CBP where they wanted to go.

Giving them what they voted for. So easy to be a “sanctuary city” thousands of miles from the border.
