Renewed scrutiny of the Biden-appointed judge blocking the termination of Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Haitians revealed which politicians her purse has propped up.
Tuesday, TPS for some 350,000 Haitians was set to expire, clearing a path for further deportations, until U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia Judge Ana Reyes blocked the Department of Homeland Security. That action prompted a revisit of her Federal Elections Commission records, previously reported by Fox News, showing she contributed thousands of dollars to the Democrats, including the one who nominated her for her current position.
Around the time that Reyes acted to block President Donald Trump’s ban on those “expressing a false ‘gender identity'” from military service, Fox News reported on FEC records that detailed the jurist’s $38,000 worth of donations dating back to 2008. This included her maxing out contributions to then-Vice President Joe Biden’s 2020 campaign before he would go on to nominate her for her position with the U.S. District Court.
Along with numerous contributions to ActBlue, records show the jurist contributing to the campaign of Georgia Sen. Jon Ossoff (D) and the leftist political action committee Defeat By Tweet, a supporter of the Justice Fund, said to raise “money for liberal groups in swing states each time President Donald Trump makes a post to his controversial Twitter account.”
Defeat By Tweet went on to support the Black Church PAC, supporters of defunding the police, that garnered $150,000 in funds from then-Vice President Kamala Harris’ second failed presidential campaign.
The native Uruguayan and openly homosexual judge also contributed $2,700 to former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign and $4,500 to then-California Sen. Harris’s first failed presidential bid.
Another beneficiary was New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who received $200 in 2019 after being elected to Congress.
In blocking the termination of Haitian TPS, Reyes used her platform to criticize DHS Secretary Kristi Noem, accusing the cabinet official of having neither the facts nor the law on her side, or ignoring both, and instead “she pounds X.”
The judge further commented on the lawsuit’s allegation that Noem’s decision to terminate TPS was “preordained … because of hostility to nonwhite immigrants,” by adding, “This seems substantially likely.”

Responding to the ruling from Reyes, DHS Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs Tricia McLaughlin pointed out the decision would be challenged at the Supreme Court while slamming, “This is lawless activism that we will be vindicated on.”
Similarly, Ohio Sen. Bernie Moreno (R), whose constituents in Springfield, Ohio have been heavily impacted by the relocation of Haitians under Biden’s administration, took to X to state, “When a Democrat president can create a TEMPORARY program and an unelected Democrat judge can unilaterally block a duly-elected Republican president from ever undoing it, we do not live in a democracy. It’s not Permanent Protected Status. This outrageous decision cannot stand.”
