President Donald Trump weighed in on the apparent abduction of Savannah Guthrie’s mom.
The sudden disappearance of Nancy Guthrie from her Tucson, Arizona, home sparked an immediate investigation. While all the details are not clear, officials did note that blood was found inside the home, where she was last seen around 9:30 p.m. on Saturday. The Pima County Sheriff’s Department said that she was reported missing by family members the next day, around noon.
Authorities also addressed rumors of a potential ransom note, but did not offer additional details or confirmation.
“We are aware of reports circulating about possible ransom note(s) regarding the investigation into Nancy Guthrie,” they said in a statement on Thursday. “Anything that comes in goes directly to our detectives who are coordinating with the FBI.”
While speaking to reporters in the Oval Office on Tuesday, the president mentioned that he planned to call Savannah Guthrie and touted how well they got along, despite his normally adversarial relationship with those in the media.
“I think it’s terrible. I’m going to call [Savannah Guthrie] later on. I think it’s a terrible thing. … Very unusual situation, but we’re going to find out,” he said. “I always got along very good with Savannah.”

He also noted the possibility of sending federal officers to help aid in the search for Nancy Guthrie.
This comes despite Guthrie hosting a Miami town hall in 2020, where she chided Trump on his use of X, then Twitter, and grilled him on his administration’s reaction to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Pres. Trump: “That was a retweet, I’ll put it out there. People can decide for themselves.”@SavannahGuthrie: “I don’t get that. You’re the president. You’re not, like, someone’s crazy uncle who can just retweet whatever.” #TrumpTownHall pic.twitter.com/sFEiIbJPgd

“News outlets TMZ and KOLD 13 News announced on Tuesday they received unverified ransom notes demanding money for Nancy Guthrie’s return,” Fox News reported. “The note received by TMZ reportedly demanded millions in Bitcoin cryptocurrency, with the outlet verifying the Bitcoin address was ‘real.'”

Class Act @potus. Savannah was not nice to you in a town hall. But you are showing everyone how to put differences aside and show your love and support at this horrible situation.
