Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is the most attacked presidential candidate in the race so far topping both President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump, which is saying something.
The attacks on the Republican governor come from all sides, with Team Trump and Team Biden seemingly vying for the title of the Great DeSantis Slayer, hitting the second-leading GOP presidential candidate over every little thing like riding in bumper cars with his young family — it doesn’t get more Americana than that.
All of which brings us to Trump surrogate Kari Lake, the failed Arizona GOP gubernatorial nominee, who took issue with DeSantis working up a sweat while campaigning in Iowa — DeSantis has vowed to visit all 99 counties in the state and has been spending considerable time there, while Trump popped in for a little over an hour at the Iowa State Fair on Saturday, prompting critics to compare him to Hillary Clinton, saying he spent more time flying to the event than he did at the event.
Lake was speaking with Steve Bannon on his podcast and Ron DeSantis was top of mind because he doesn’t buy into Trump’s continued election fraud claims — the governor has been clear that the election was not the cleanest in history, citing universal mail-in ballots and ballot harvesting in many areas of the country, but concedes that Trump lost in 2020.
Kari Lake’s Pro Tip for Ron DeSantis:
“Use a tissue please. The ppl of Iowa do not appreciate having your runny nose and sweaty face rubbed all over them. Be a human being and be polite…”

“DeSantis says Trump lost 2020. DeSantis in single digits ended DeSantis run. The rest of it’s all nonsense. I don’t care how many times he debates Newsom,” Bannon said. “This is all Murdoch-generated. It’s all Murdoch phony. Did I mention the Murdochs are foreigners? Did I mention that? Kari Lake, your thoughts about Ron DeSantis?”
Having ceded the bumper car line of attack, Lake opted to hit DeSantis for perspiring in the “hot and sweaty” month of August.
Always a great idea on a Saturday at a packed county fair to shut down a popular attraction so voters can stand around and watch you have a good time. Desantis is a genius. pic.twitter.com/txmyiQLaZe

“Well, I said I was going to give him a pro tip because I was watching as he’s campaigning across Iowa and I was hot and sweaty in the summer,” she said. “I know people think of the cold winters there, but, you know, have you seen the video? It’s like every time he’s around people, he’s so awkward, but he’s literally wiping the sweat off of his face and then touching people and rubbing his nose.”
“Ron, use a tissue, please. The people of Iowa do not appreciate having your runny nose and your sweaty face rubbed all over them,” Lake continued.
But then, taking a page out of the left’s playbook — ridicule — shows how concerned Team Trump is about DeSantis, who has endured over $20.2 million in negative independent expenditure spending, as seen below. That’s more than Biden and Trump combined:

“Republicans, Democrats, and the legacy media are united in their full-on assault of Ron DeSantis because he is the only candidate who can beat Joe Biden,” DeSantis campaign communications director Andrew Romeo told Fox News.
“We know they will never call him the winner and we fully expect the onslaught of attacks to reach a new level on the debate stage next week, but taking arrows on behalf of the American people is nothing new for DeSantis,” Romeo said, adding: “It doesn’t matter how much they come after him, Ron DeSantis will never back down.”
