Armstrong, 35, is accused of murdering her boyfriend’s professional cyclist lover.
In cell phone footage, she is seen in a striped prison outfit taking off with one correctional officer falling as he pursued her. She was visiting St. David’s South Austin Medical Center for a specialized appointment that could not be handled at the Travis County Correctional Complex when the incident occurred. As she was being escorted back to a car on Wednesday, Armstrong broke free and ran.
Officers chased her up a hill. She then jumped a fence to get away from them. Armstrong ran into a nearby neighborhood where she was eventually taken down. It’s not clear what restraints she was wearing or how she escaped the officers according to the Daily Mail.
Armstrong has been on the run before. She spent 43 days last year evading police before she was finally caught and arrested for the murder of 25-year-old Moriah “Mo” Wilson last May, who was found by a friend slumped over in a pool of blood in a bathroom.

“As they were leaving the facility she ran from those corrections officers and she made it in total about a block and a half. Both of the officers who were pursuing her on foot never lost sight of her,” Kristen Dark, who is a senior spokesperson for the Travis County Sheriff’s Office, told CBS Austin in an interview.
“They could see her the whole time. They chased after her and ultimately caught up with her and were able to restrain her,” Dark asserted.
“For someone to attempt this is very uncommon, very uncommon. I am not able for security purposes to ever disclose the security measures we use with people in our custody,” she added.
The officers who ran Armstrong down never drew their firearms according to the Daily Mail. She was taken to the Dell Seton Medical Center after she was captured.

Armstrong pleaded not guilty to the murder charges filed against her. She denied killing the competitive gravel and mountain bike racer from Vermont who was in Austin for a race when she was murdered.
The yoga teacher was allegedly tracking Wilson using an app for cyclists and runners called Strava. Armstrong also visited a gun range with her sister before the murder.
She received $450,000 from her boyfriend, who also admitted to buying two firearms between the end of 2021 and the start of 2022 for himself and Armstrong.
The boyfriend admitted to having an affair with Wilson. He told police that he had dinner with her the night she was killed.
Prosecutors posited that Armstrong flew into a rage when she found out the racer was seeing her boyfriend and then shot Wilson. After being interviewed, the accused killer allegedly fled Texas to Costa Rica.
Authorities claim that while in Costa Rica she got a nose job and dyed her hair brown. She reportedly used her sister’s passport to get out of the country and lived under several aliases while on the run.
An anonymous tip finally brought her down and got Armstrong arrested. She was sent back to the U.S. on an immigration violation, and authorities booked her into the Travis County Jail in Austin.

The attempted escape will probably just be added to charges that are currently pending against Armstrong.
Currently, she is being held in Travis County Jail on a $3.5 million bond. Her trial is slated for October 30. The yoga instructor is facing up to 99 years behind bars if she is convicted.
