When it comes to opposing former President Donald Trump, issuing warnings and threats to the Supreme Court are in vogue it seems.
While you might expect that from Democrats like Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), at least one so-called Republican is not above such antics.
Rejected former GOP congresswoman Liz Cheney issued her own warning this week regarding Trump’s claims of presidential immunity that the high court has taken up, stressing that time is of the essence.
“When [Trump] now is pushing this idea that a president should have complete immunity against any criminal prosecution for anything he does in office and he’s pushed this appeal to the Supreme Court, I think it’s very important that the Supreme Court recognizes what he’s doing is a delaying tactic,” Cheney said while speaking at Drake University’s Annual Bucksbaum Distinguished Lectureship.
“It cannot be the case that a president of the United States can attempt to overturn an election and seize power and that our justice system is incapable of holding a trial and holding him to account before the next election.”

Her stance betrays what appears to be the true purpose of Trump’s unprecedented persecution — getting a Trump conviction before the November election.
Last month, a federal appeals panel ruled Trump “can face trial on charges that he plotted to overturn the results of the 2020 election, sharply rejecting the former president’s claims that he is immune from prosecution while setting the stage for additional challenges that could further delay the case,” the Associated Press reported at the time.
The former president and presumptive 2024 Republican presidential nominee has countered that the lawfare being directed at him is nothing short of “election interference.”
Here’s a quick sampling of responses to the story, as seen on X:

“It cannot be the case…” Says who? Who is she to tell us what can be the case and what can’t?

It cannot be the case that Liz Cheney and all the other J6 Sham Panel members destroyed key evidence which shows it was a set-up. When will they all be held accountable?
