Local police cooperation helps ICE nab 650 illegals across West Virginia

More than 65o illegal aliens were taken into custody by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) during a two-week operation in West Virginia, “including several with serious criminal histories and prior removals,” the agency announced.

The two-week statewide operation, which ran from Jan. 5 to Jan. 19, was carried out by agents from ICE Philadelphia with the coordination of local law enforcement agencies, going off without a hitch and without the resistance from left-wing radicals that has taken place in Minneapolis and other Democrat-run cities.

“Those arrested have convictions for child sex abuse, drug possession, and endangering the welfare of children,” ICE said in a press release.

“ICE Philadelphia deployed surge teams to Martinsburg, Moorefield, Morgantown, Beckley, Huntington, and Charleston as part of the operation. Together, federal, state, and local law enforcement officials identified and arrested hundreds of illegal aliens who present dangers to national security and risks to public safety, as well as those who entered the United States illegally or have otherwise undermined the integrity of U.S. immigration laws and border control efforts,” the statement read.

Among the arrests was Ling Yan, aka Yang Ning, a criminal illegal alien from China who was convicted in Ravenna County, Ohio, of two counts of endangering the welfare of children and has a final removal order.

Another illegal alien who was taken off the streets is Sagar Singh, an Indian national who was arrested as part of Operation ICE Wall targeting illegals operating commercial vehicles.

According to ICE, “Singh was stopped by a commercial vehicle enforcement officer after failing to stop for a mandatory brake check station. He was cited for numerous commercial vehicle infractions for operating an unsafe commercial vehicle. Singh had been previously ordered removed. Singh was one of more than 25 aliens arrested under Operation ICE Wall between Jan. 5 to 19.”

Also arrested were a “convicted child sex abuser, a criminal convicted of drug possession charges, and many others during the operation,” ICE announced.

“This operation demonstrates how strong partnerships between ICE and West Virginia law enforcement agencies enhance public safety and the integrity of our immigration system,” ERO Philadelphia acting Field Office Director Michael Rose said in a statement. “By training and supporting our 287(g) partners across the state, we’ve expanded local capacity to identify, arrest, and process illegal aliens while ensuring these authorities are exercised professionally and consistent with the law.”

“The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office has just completed a two-week operation with Immigration and Customs Enforcement,” Jefferson County Sheriff Tom Hansen said. “The Sheriff’s Office was impressed with the professionalism and work ethic of the agents and how well they interacted with the citizens and local law enforcement officers.”

“I want to thank the men and women of ICE for their outstanding partnership with various state entities, including the State Police, and their tireless work here in West Virginia,” said West Virginia Gov. Patrick Morrisey.

“Through our collaboration under the 287(g) program, they have removed dangerous illegal immigrants from our communities and made our state safer for families and law-abiding citizens. After years of Biden’s reckless border policies putting the public at risk, it is encouraging to work with President Trump and ICE to secure our homeland and deliver real results for West Virginians,” the Republican governor added, a stark contrast to the flagrant disrespect shown to the agency by his Democrat counterparts like Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz and Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker.

“These arrests highlight how 287(g) partnerships serve as a force multiplier for federal resources, enabling local officers — under ICE training and supervision — to identify and help remove individuals who may pose threats to public safety or have violated U.S. immigration laws,” ICE said, touting the successful coordination with WV law enforcement.
