‘MAGA Mike is funny!’ New speaker caught doing impromptu stand-up — AND political impersonations

Newly-tapped Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) captivated an audience recently with his sense of humor, which included a hilarious impression of former President Donald Trump and House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH).

But first, he did a spot-on impression of U.S. Rep. Clay Higgins (R-LA), complete with a Louisiana drawl that had the room eating out of his hand.

Johnson then spoke of a phone call he got from Trump, before doing an impersonation of the former president talking about how much he loves Jim Jordan, hand gestures and all.

“Anyways, he says hello,” the speaker deadpanned after his impromptu performance, drawing a guttural laugh from those present.

One of the attendees spoke about a custom-made knife that was given to Trump, along with a message “from all of us from Louisiana on the inside, acknowledging, his — in my opinion — revered status as the greatest president we’ve ever had.”

Again, Johnson reverted to his inner Trump to talk about Higgins being the “Cajun John Wayne.”

“He’s jazzed. He wanted me to — I’m serious —  the president sends his regard to the group tonight, he told me to tell you all that,” he added.

In closing, Johnson joked about Higgins and himself having “a lot of the same tattoos.”

“It says — it says freedom on my back,” he quipped, while reaching for his back.

“They love him in Washington. He’s the best export we’ve got to DC,” he said of Higgins in closing.

The response online was relatively refreshing, given the stale air of DC politics — here’s a quick sampling of responses to the story, as seen on X:
