Mayorkas lashes ‘extremely pernicious’ critics of Hurricane Helene response, blames Congress for funding troubles

Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas took aim at critics of FEMA’s response to Hurricane Helene and pointed the finger of blame at Congress for the agency’s funding problems.

The left-wing bureaucrat who has presided over the flooding of the nation with illegal aliens, many of them violent criminals, appeared on Sunday morning’s edition of “Face the Nation” on CBS where he whined about “misinformation” to host and vice presidential debate moderator Margaret Brennan.

Incensed that ordinary Americans would be allowed to speak out against failures of the federal government, the agency poobah said critics on non-controlled Internet platforms are engaging in the “extremely pernicious” spreading of false information and claimed that it is doing harm to people who are trying to get help, the regime’s official narrative.

Brennan set him up by linking criticism of the hurricane response to upcoming questions about the election, a sign that the regime and its mouthpieces are very worried that Americans aren’t going to simply shut up and accept Democrat shenanigans a second time around.

Mayorkas told the host that “disinformation” is being “deliberately spread to impact people’s behavior and perceptions,” while defending his embattled agency’s response to the natural disaster that severely impacted several southeast states with North Carolina being the hardest hit.

“And the misinformation – I should say it’s disinformation – false information deliberately spread to impact people’s behavior and perceptions, it is extremely pernicious. We have individuals in need of assistance who are entitled to assistance who aren’t seeking it because of the false information,” he said.

“We need individuals, elected officials, people who have the platform to really debunk this false information. And we’re not seeing enough of that, and I find that to be incredibly irresponsible, and irresponsible to the people who are survivors of these extreme weather events,” Mayorkas added.

The Harris-Biden regime apparatchik who had previously said that FEMA didn’t have enough money to get through hurricane season – before Hurricane Milton formed – is now blaming House Republicans for a shortfall in funding.

“FEMA has the money to address the immediate needs of individuals impacted by Hurricanes Helene and Milton,” Mayorkas told Brennan. “But we need Congress to act swiftly to fund FEMA and specifically its disaster relief fund because hurricane season is not over.”

“We are meeting the immediate needs with the money that we have. We are expecting another hurricane hitting,” he said earlier this month. “FEMA does not have the funds to make it through the season,” a remark that drew strong criticism over the agency’s priorities.

“We have to ensure that individuals can recover from these extreme disasters, such as rebuilding their homes, repairing damage, and the like,” Maryorkas said on Sunday. “And so we need Congress to act swiftly to fund what should be a nonpartisan, apolitical phenomenon, and that is providing relief to all individuals with respect to the impacts of these extreme weather events.”

One of the slimiest officials who has ever headed up a federal agency, Mayorkas was impeached but Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY)  refused to allow a trial.
