Independent journalist and podcaster Megyn Kelly went there on Tuesday, pointing out that Americans don’t want to vote for “a near corpse” when selecting a president, referring to Joe Biden running for reelection in 2024.
Kelly was discussing a Wall Street Journal poll when she made the comment. It shows that Biden and former President Trump are tied at 46 percent each in the presidential race. She noted that 73 percent of all voters think that Biden at age 80 is too old to run again. Two-thirds of Democrats believe he’s too old which is a very bad sign for their party.
By comparison, only 40 percent believe that Trump is too old at 77. Kelly asserted that voters weren’t being ageist. They just felt that in Biden’s case, he was too old due to his physical and cognitive decline.

“The voters are not ableist, they’re not ageist,” Kelly contended. “They’re taking people on a case-by-case basis and they see a vibrant man in Trump and they see a near corpse – forgive me, but it’s true – in Biden.”
It’s hard to argue with that assessment. Biden stumbles and mumbles more and more, looking like death warmed over, while Trump can still run all night if he has to.
Eliana Johnson, editor-in-chief of the Washington Free Beacon, posited on Kelly’s show that Biden is refusing to let someone else run because he thinks Democrats will lose the election.
“I think Biden thinks he’s the only person who can beat Trump in 2024,” Johnson declared.

“I don’t think he thinks Kamala Harris can do it. And I don’t think the Democratic Party thinks Kamala Harris can do it. And I think that’s why you see the reluctance from Biden to see the stage and open a primary. I think Democrats really worry that they don’t have somebody ready to go along the sidelines, partially because there would be deference to Kamala Harris,” she claimed.
Kelly pointed out that most voters were not keen on a Trump-Biden rematch in 2024.
“But Trump, he does have huge numbers within his own party,” she asserted. “Yet Joe Biden has got his fingers in his ears, and his eyes closed, and is pretending there is no opposition.”
Author Franklin Foer has written a new biography on Biden’s first two years in office. He remarked on Sunday that he would not be “totally shocked” if the president dropped out of the race by the end of this year during an interview with NBC’s “Meet the Press” host Chuck Todd.

He went on to state that “one of the primary insecurities” of the president “is that he does not want to be perceived as stupid.”

In the survey, there was a 26 percent margin between those who think Biden is too old and those who think Trump is too old to run again.
The Wall Street Journal poll was taken between August 24-30. It went on to show that only 36 percent of the 1,500 voters surveyed think Biden is mentally fit for office, as opposed to 46 percent who think Trump is mentally competent for the job.
Biden’s performance over the economy, inflation and cost of living, border security, China, and the war in Ukraine are getting hammered by the American people.
The president’s health is declining in real time and all of America and the world can see it playing out. It is visually obvious day to day and many believe he simply cannot go on much longer due to it.
