Melania Trump has ‘upper hand’ over husband, First Lady Brigitte Macron says

Former first lady Melania Trump reportedly has a quiet signal she sends to her husband in public.

Analysts close to her say she doesn’t even need to speak to get former President Donald Trump to make decisions and many times, he follows her lead through hand gestures alone.

Fans of Melania Trump who can’t get enough of her very private life since leaving the White House in 2021 have to look no further than French First Lady Brigitte Macron for some behind-the-scenes revelations.

In a recent interview with French publication Paris Match, the wife of French President Emanuel Macron dished on the dynamic between the 77-year-old former U.S. president and his 53-year-old Slovenian-born wife.

Melania Trump’s absence from her husband’s side on the campaign trail, and even amid multiple court cases currently being thrown at him by leftist justice officials, has raised eyebrows and set tongues wagging about something being amiss. But the businesswoman and former model has reportedly been devoting her attention to being a mother to Barron, the 17-year-old son she shares with Donald Trump, who is poised to graduate high school and move on to college next year.

Though the Trumps were seen together last month at a Halloween party at their Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Florida, Melania has generally declined to make many public appearances.

She was described as “sweet” and “strong” by Brigitte Macron in the Paris Match interview.

“Melania Trump is very sweet. But she has the upper hand over her husband. When, at a dinner party, she taps on her watch, her husband understands that it is time to get up and leave. And he complies. She has a strong personality,” she said, according to Newsweek.

“Brigitte Macron described her relationship with presidents’ wives from across the globe, saying that there is ‘protocol distance’ with ‘some affinities.’ She said first ladies text each other and have tea when they are in Paris,” the outlet noted.

She reportedly said that President Joe Biden’s wife, Jill Biden is “extremely open, pleasant. We can say a lot of things to each other.”

In a previous interview with French publication Le Monde, Macron had talked about how “constrained” her American counterpart’s life was in the White House.

“She can’t even open a window at the White House. She can’t go outside. She’s much more constrained than I am. I go out every day in Paris,” she said, while also noting that Melania Trump is “actually really fun,” has a “strong personality” and is someone who “laughs very easily, at everything.”

At a rally in Sioux City, Iowa, last month, the former president admitted his wife is not a big fan of his theatrics on the campaign trail.

“She says, ‘Darling, I love you so much, but this is not presidential when you do the weightlifting, this is not presidential, or when you do the swimming thing, it’s not and you know, I understand, or when you dance off the stage,'” he told the crowd.

“You don’t dance off the stage. This is not presidential,'” Trump continued. “I said, ‘Look. We got a year to go. Everybody loves us. I love everybody. The country’s going to hell in a handbasket. Let’s do a little dancing.”

Earlier this year, the former – and perhaps future – first lady did express her support of her husband’s third bid for the White House.

“My husband achieved tremendous success in his first administration, and he can lead us toward greatness and prosperity once again,” she told Fox News in May, and added that the couple “look forward to restoring hope for the future and leading America with love and strength.”
