Famed musician Mick Jagger believes he has a very specific role as an entertainer.
Unlike most aging rockers who have decided that they need to become part-time political pundits, Jagger says he has no interest in getting into that realm. He says his job is to provide his fans “the best time,” not a “lecture.”

NYT: “Bruce Springsteen clearly sees his job as engaging in a meaningful back and forth.”
MICK JAGGER: “My job in the live music world is for those people that come to have the best time … And you… pic.twitter.com/PmNaTgLjs7

“My job in the live music world is for those people that come to have the best time they possibly can, for two hours or whatever it is, to forget all their problems and the problems of the world, and their mortgages and whatever. And they can have just the best time. It’s similar, going to a sports event, really… you’re not worrying about everything else. Those things are out of your mind.”
“So that’s my job, is to make them have the best time… And you don’t want to lecture them.”
This stands in contrast to artists like Bruce Springsteen, who has positioned himself as something of an anti-Trump poster boy.
As BizPac Review previously reported, “The Boss” has repeatedly vowed to resist President Donald Trump’s administration, attacking the president’s policies while going to bat for Democrats like Vice President Kamala Harris and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz.
“If you’re feeling helpless, if you’re feeling hopeless, if you’re feeling betrayed, if you’re feeling frustrated, if you’re feeling angry, I understand. That’s why we’re here tonight. We needed to come to Washington and feel your strength and your hope and your faith.” he said to a crowd gathered in D.C. “So many of our elected leaders have failed us that this American tragedy can only be stopped by the American people—you. There is no one coming to save us; we’ve got to do it ourselves. So join us and let’s fight for the America that we love.”
X users reacted to Jagger’s interview:
Springsteen is nothing but a Democrat party shill, he supported Kamal Harris and her genocidal partnership with Israel.
Bruce is 100% establishment, a sellout like Bono. Garbage human.Jagger is at least honest about giving it all a pass.

I would think this is one secret to his success – enjoy the moment and help others to enjoy it too. He’s clearly still having fun and he’s in his 80s!

Artists shouldn’t endorse political parties and slogans. It alienates half their audience, reduces their work to propaganda, and turns it into social engineering for the establishment. They will always be suspect because they stopped being independent.

Bravo Mick Jagger! You understand the true meaning of being an entertainer. No one wants to hear anyone’s politics when they’ve paid the high cost of ticket to hear the music.

In my opinion….Mick is correct….I go to see a show…..not be lectured to…now….in their own daily lives, preach all you want, just not at your job…..
