Migrants being dropped at NJ train stations to bypass Mayor Adams’ order

Texas took a bite out of the Big Apple’s bid to slow illegal alien influx, deploying the same “loophole” seen in the Chicago area.

Arms once outstretched in welcome by leftist leaders could now be seen frantically waving to disperse foreign nationals in so-called sanctuary cities to no avail. After New York City Mayor Eric Adams (D) had issued an executive order aimed at preventing buses from the Lone Star State from dropping off aliens without advanced notice, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) took advantage of the sprawling public transit system.

Over the weekend, at least 10 buses were reported arriving at transit stations in New Jersey towns and cities that included Edison, Fanwood, Secaucus and Trenton. Officials from the City of Jersey City tallied nearly 400 illegals getting dropped off and provided with train tickets to complete their ride into NYC.

“[Approximately] 397 migrants have arrived at these locations since 12/30. NJ Transit is apparently the receiving agency, and there was a [conference] call between state police/NJT earlier today, which local governments were not part of,” the Jersey City social media account posted. “This is clearly going to be a statewide conversation so it is important that we wait for some guidance from the Governor here on next steps as busses continue.”

“It seems quite clear the bus operators are finding a way to thwart the requirements of the Executive Order by dropping migrants at the train station in Secaucus and having them continue to their final destination,” said Secaucus Mayor Michael Gonnelli in a statement.

“Perhaps the requirements Mayor Adams put in place are too stringent and are resulting in unexpected consequences as it seems the bus operators have figured out a loophole in the system in order to ensure the migrants reach their final destination, which is New York City. Based on reports from the State Police this is now happening at train stations throughout the state,” the mayor continued.

Wednesday, Adams had announced his executive order threatening to impound buses if they failed to proved 32-hour notice of their arrival or dropped off illegal aliens outside of the designated weekday window between 8:30 a.m. and 12 p.m.

Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson (D) had employed a similar ordinance in an effort to slow the trickle of aliens compared to the flood felt daily at the southern border left unaddressed by President Joe Biden’s administration.

He too was unsuccessful as Abbott chartered a private plane to land outside Chicago where more than 350 aliens were then shuttled by bus throughout the suburbs to make their way into the city.

A spokesman from Adam’s office reacted by lashing out at the Texas governor for attempting to alleviate the burden brought by Biden’s policies.

“Abbot continues to treat asylum seekers like political pawns, and is instead now dropping families off in surrounding cities and states in the cold, dark of night with train tickets to travel to New York City,” the spokesman said in a statement to the press. “This is exactly why we have been coordinating with surrounding cities and counties since before issuing our order to encourage them to take similar executive action to protect migrants against this cruelty.”

“I have been advised the State of New Jersey has a plan in place and we will be working closely with the Governor’s office, all law enforcement agencies, and the County to monitor this situation,” Gonnelli added in his own statement. “At this point in time it seems train tickets are being secured for the migrants and they have been making their way to their final destination. We will continue to monitor this situation closely.”
