More history re-written at MSNBC: Trump owns bloody invasion since he ‘extorted’ Ukraine for missiles

A far-left MSNBC commentator claimed Tuesday that former President Donald Trump will be to blame if and when Russia’s “invasion” of Ukraine turns “bloody,” regardless of the fact that Trump’s been out of office for over a year now.

To prove his thesis correct, commentator Malcolm Nance, the same far-leftist who falsely predicted last summer that the Republican Party’s base was preparing for civil war, decided to completely rewrite history.

To hear him tell it, during his presidency Trump denied Ukraine the Javelin anti-tank missiles it needed to stave off a Russian invasion, and so that’s why the European nation is now poised to fall if Russia does indeed invade.

“This is going to get bloody. Donald Trump is going to be responsible for a lot of it. He extorted this country with the anti-tank missiles they need now to defend themselves,” he claimed.

“All I know is we haven’t given Ukraine enough javelin missiles here to stop what’s coming. But if we do, maybe this whole thing can be reversed a bit.”

Nance was right about Ukraine’s need for missiles. This is why then-President Barack Hussein Obama, a Democrat, was lambasted for refusing to provide the European nation with Javelin missiles before and during Russia’s annexation of Crimea in 2014.

“The Ukrainians are being slaughtered and we’re sending blankets and meals. Blankets don’t do well against Russian tanks,” then-Sen. John McCain said at the time.

But after Trump took office in 2017, he rectified Obama’s error by supplying Ukraine with the needed missiles. This was confirmed multiple times during the former president’s 2019 impeachment hearings, ironically enough:

The impeachment stemmed from an unproven accusation from Democrats that Trump had tried to extort Ukraine in exchange for damaging information about former Vice President Biden and his crack-smoking son, Hunter.

The impeachment ultimately ended with a whimper when Trump was acquitted by the U.S. Senate in early 2020.

Nance offered his rewrite of history after being asked to comment on Trump’s latest remarks vis-a-vis the crisis in Ukraine.

Responding to Russian President Vladimir Putin’s unexpected recognition of two Russian separatist-controlled sections of Ukraine and decision to send in a “peacekeeping” team, the former president said Wednesday that the move was “savvy.”

“I went in yesterday and there was a television screen, and I said, ‘This is genius.’ Putin declares a big portion of the Ukraine — of Ukraine. Putin declares it as independent. Oh, that’s wonderful,” he said during a radio show interview.

“So, Putin is now saying, ‘It’s independent,’ a large section of Ukraine. I said, ‘How smart is that?’ And he’s gonna go in and be a peacekeeper. … That’s the strongest peace force I’ve ever seen. There were more army tanks than I’ve ever seen. They’re gonna keep peace all right. No, but think of it. Here’s a guy who’s very savvy… I know him very well. Very, very well.”

The “praise,” as the establishment media is calling it, led to accusations that Trump is a “traitor”:

Not mentioned by his critics was what he’d said next: “By the way, this never would have happened with us. Had I been in office, not even thinkable. This would never have happened. … (Y)ou know what the response was from Biden? There was no response. They didn’t have one for that. No, it’s very sad. Very sad.”

Nance echoed some of the traitor talk himself, saying that Trump’s “praise” of Putin was just another example of him allegedly talking like an “autocrat.”

“Dictators are going to talk like dictators, right? Game knows game. And Donald Trump in this particular circumstance, he’s an autocrat. I said that when he became president, Putin’s strategy was to create an axis of autocrats,” he said.

“And Trump was the American wing which was supposed to reposition the United States and allow Europe to become a vassal area of an expanded Russia. This is just Donald Trump validating what we’ve known about him. He’s anti-democratic. He’s ready to give this country away.”

To be clear, the only thing Trump gave away were Javelin missiles that were sold to Ukraine. As for Obama and Biden, they together “gave away” Crimea, two separatist-controlled Ukrainian territories and the Nord Stream 2 pipeline:
