MTG drops bombshell resignation from office, cites ‘Political Industrial Complex’

In a Friday night bombshell, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) announced that she’s resigning from Congress, citing what she called the “Political Industrial Complex,” which doesn’t represent the best interests of the American people.

“Americans are used by the Political Industrial Complex of both political parties, election cycle after election cycle, in order to elect whichever side can convince Americans to hate the other side more,” she wrote. “And the results are always the same — nothing ever gets better for the common American man or woman.”

“I will be resigning from office with my last day being January 5, 2026,” Greene said. “I’m going back to the people I love.”

The fiery congresswoman explained her decision in a lengthy post to X, along with a video showing her sitting in a living room setting in front of a lighted Christmas tree.

“No matter which way the political pendulum swings, Republican or Democrat, nothing ever gets better for the common American man or woman,” Greene wrote as she listed her reasons for quitting in a four-page statement.

“I believe in term limits and do not think Congress should be a lifelong career or an assisted living facility,” she wrote. “My only goal and desire has ever been to hold the Republican Party accountable for the promises it makes to the American people and put America First, and I have fought against Democrat’s damaging policies like the Green New Deal, wide open deadly unsafe border policies, and the trans agenda on children and against women.

The stunning announcement came a week after President Donald J. Trump said that he was pulling his endorsement and support from the MAGA favorite after she had repeatedly criticized his priorities and broken with party leadership during the government shutdown, appearing as a guest on “The View,” a show that foments hatred for Trump and his supporters on a daily basis.

Trump also indicated that he would back a primary challenger.

Greene and Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) joined with the opposition party to push for the release of the Epstein files, forcing the issue which Democrats cared nothing about until they seized on it as a way to damage Trump and sow division among his base. It was the final straw for the president, who cut ties with “Wacky” Marjorie last Friday, later branding her as a “traitor” for going rogue.

“I think it’s great news for the country. It’s great,” Trump told ABC News, reacting to his former ally calling it quits, a decision that he said she did not discuss with him beforehand.

“Nah, it doesn’t matter, you know? But I think it’s great,” the president added. “I think she should be happy.”

According to Melania Zanona of NBC News, who cited an anonymous source, Greene did not give Speaker Mike Johnson a heads-up before her announcement.

“Her abrupt departure from Congress in January will make Johnson’s job even more difficult, given the GOP’s already slim margins,” the reporter wrote on X.

“Loyalty should be a two-way street and we should be able to vote our conscience and represent our district’s interest, because our job title is literally ‘representative,’” Greene said in her statement, insisting that she has always been loyal to Trump and only disagreed on her stance “against H1Bs replacing American jobs, AI state moratoriums, debt for life 50 year mortgage scams, standing strongly against all involvement in foreign wars, and demanding the release of the Epstein files.”

“If I am cast aside by MAGA Inc and replaced by Neocons, Big Pharma, Big Tech, Military Industrial War Complex, foreign leaders, and the elite donor class that can’t even relate to real Americans, then man common Americans have been cast aside and replaced as well,” MTG’s statement read.

“There is no ‘plan to save the world’ or insane 4D chess game being played,” she added.

“When the common American people finally realize and understand that the Political Industrial Complex of both parties is ripping this country apart, that not one elected leader like me is able to stop Washington’s machine from gradually destroying our country, and instead the reality is that they, common Americans, The People, possess the real power over Washington, then I’ll be here by their side to rebuild it,” she concluded.
