Multi-family brawl breaks out at Walt Disney World over photo op and it opens a can of worms

The latest amusement park brawl stirred up a host of reactions from social media users about “the happiest place on earth” turned “rat’s park.”

Monday at Walt Disney World, fists flew between families when one group reportedly wouldn’t give the other the courtesy of an unobstructed photo in front of the 100-anniversary sign. While the Magic Kingdom melee needed security to break it up, and one person required medical attention, the incident was received as just another day at the park.

“It used to be such a nice place, worth the money. Now, it has turned into a complete Sh**-Show. Not worth going,” one person commented on Twitter while another wrote, “Too many people are so angry and ignorant! What a commentary on today’s society! These parents are teaching their children how to behave badly. Disgusting!”

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office had responded to the park around 2:30 p.m. and reports indicated that the altercation began after an arriving family asked others standing in the space meant for photos to step aside. Worth noting, the commemorative sign is near the front of the park, just beyond the entry gates.

“OMG I just don’t get people these days. Just [move] aside for a quick photo. What is the big fu**ing deal,” said one user.

Another remarked on Disney’s zero-tolerance policy for fighting, “Didn’t even make it inside the park and got thrown out…For what? Get out of the way if you’re not taking pictures. That’s a photo spot. Disney even has a photographer there to take pictures. If you’re done taking pics go on into the park and have fun.”

Speaking with Fox 35, one person commented, “The kids aren’t supposed to think that happens anywhere, let alone in Disney. When they’re going to see Mickey Mouse you shouldn’t have adults fighting.”

“I think after the pandemic everyone’s just gone crazy,” she continued. “They just want what they want and they don’t care how other people feel.”

Still, many were incredulous over the conduct considering the exorbitant prices spent to take a vacation at Disney World. This time last year it was reported that many were getting priced out of trips to the amusement park and that “the magic is gone.”

“I feel like Disney is pricing people out, can the average working American family really afford this?” one mother had said. “I’ve been coming to Disney since I was six years old. I’m 39 now. My kids thought Disney was magical and so for me the cost was worth it, but I see that it’s not the same Disney it was.”

One family had tallied up their expenses to Fox Business and a four-night stay that included $950 for meals, $700 for snacks and souvenirs, $300 on passes to move quickly through the lines on top of the $2,550 for five days in the park, $3,780 for hotel accommodations and then airfare, their trip topped $10,000.
