Details regarding South Carolina Rep. Nancy Mace’s (R) supposed profanity-laced airport altercation found the lawmaker alleging she was the victim of a “hit job.”
After reports surfaced that the congresswoman had served up a tongue-lashing to employees of the Transportation Security Administration at the end of October, she was quick to highlight concerns about her own safety while touting her own patience. Now, as a video was released along with a police report purporting to cite her expletive-filled rantings at government employees, Mace took to CNN to claim the report was “falsified.”
Appearing on “The Source,” host Kaitlan Collins brought up the interactions from Oct. 30 and said, “You were involved in an incident at the Charleston Airport back in October. There was an internal police investigation report that came out in recent days. It says that you turned what was described as a minor miscommunication by police into a ‘spectacle’ and left airport employees visibly upset. What was your reaction when you read this report?”
“The report was actually falsified,” insisted Mace about the Nov. 12 report recently made public. “I back the blue. I back our police. I back our security. You know, in my district in South Carolina, I’ve gotten millions of dollars for local law enforcement to support them in their efforts to keep our community safe. But what’s not okay is falsifying reports, falsifying incident reports.”

“You just said you back the blue. The police quote you in this report as you calling them ‘f*cking idiots’ and ‘f*cking incompetent’ while stating that you’re an ‘f*cking representative’ and telling a TSA supervisor, ‘I’m sick of your sh*t. I’m tired of having to wait. I should not have to wait. You guys are always f*cking late, and this is f*cking ridiculous,'” detailed Collins. “Are you saying you didn’t say those things?”
“Well, you’re quoting a document that was, in part, falsified,” responded the congresswoman, who went on to add, “That is a falsified document.”
In the report, Charleston Airport Police Chief James A. Woods shouldered “a certain level of responsibility” for a miscommunication regarding the color of the congresswoman’s transportation on the day of the incident, but detailed how it was “equally clear that her continued failure to follow established procedures at the checkpoint is what turned a minor miscommunication over the color of a vehicle into the spectacle that this issue has become for our employees and airport workers.”
Issues included her use of the encrypted app Signal to communicate with officers and her arrival at an unexpected location. Further, the report contended that the checkpoint delay didn’t exceed six minutes as the alleged tirade had taken place amid the Democratic Party’s government shutdown, meaning those said to have taken the brunt of Mace’s supposed rage weren’t even getting paid at the time.
It was also detailed that the congresswoman’s office “never provided” any information about specific threats she’s faced when asked by airport police
After the guest insisted that her requests for audio and bodycam footage weren’t met because she was told “they didn’t exist,” the host went on to challenge, “Are you saying that you never said any of these quotes? That every single one is a lie?”
“I’ve never called a cop an idiot. That is a remarkably false statement. I am absolutely saying that that report was falsified, 100% fictitious, falsified … I have never called someone an idiot. That is — that is shocking to me,” asserted Mace, who, when asked if she regrets her actions and behavior regarding the airport employees, remarked that there was nothing illegal about “expressing one’s frustrations” before likening herself to President Donald Trump.
“I use vulgar language frequently. The president does. I do express my frustration. I do take responsibility for my words, I always have. But the idea that I would call somebody an idiot? I have never done that in my life, and to me it was an incredible hit job. It was effective, it was a very effective political hit job, but that’s all that it was.”
As to who was responsible, Mace, who’d previously insisted the “establishment was in PANIC MODE” after taking heat from South Carolina’s Republican Sens. Tim Scott and Lindsey Graham, matter-of-factly alleged South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson, a competitor in the 2026 Republican primary for the gubernatorial nomination, before adding, “It’s crazy to me that the media would believe a falsified report.”
She later went on to correct the record and shared a July 2024 post on X that referred to Michigan Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D) as “Iran’s useful idiot,” with the caption, “I misspoke on CNN tonight … I have called one person an idiot before.”
