Former South Carolina governor Nikki Haley ripped “irresponsible” Republicans over their opposition to the so-called “border bill” and suggested that they could enable the next 9/11.
The GOP presidential candidate continued her string of media appearances and on Monday, she joined Fox News host Neil Cavuto for a chat that included her take on the $118 billion bill that was savaged by Republicans after it was unveiled on Sunday night.
As is usually the case with Haley, she drew heavily on Democrat talking points, especially blaming the opposition to the bill on former President Donald J. Trump, the frontrunner for the GOP nomination whom she has no hope of legitimately beating.

“I do want to get your take on this border bill,” said Cavuto, who like many others in the media is working dutifully to pump up her candidacy and sell the big lie that the opposition to the bill is just Trump playing politics to deny President Joe Biden a win in an election year.
“You know, Donald Trump has famously said that Republicans who vote for it should be ashamed of themselves. We’re going to have Senator Lankford with us shortly, who’s amazed at the response it’s getting and wondering if maybe that could be because Republicans, might feel that they’re in a better position not to have something like this, that it could help Joe Biden and it wouldn’t help them. How are you on this?” Cavuto asked.
“There’s two things going on here and we have to speak hard truths. First of all, everybody’s tired of a do-nothing Congress. I mean, can they do anything? Because we’ve seen nothing, out of Republicans or Democrats, they have an inability to get anything done.” Haley said, not bothering to mention that Biden doesn’t even need Congress to secure the border which he could do through executive action.
“The second thing is you can’t have Trump sitting there saying, don’t do anything until the election. We have a completely open border,” she added, a half-truth that fails to acknowledge that the border has been wide open for Biden’s entire time in the White House and most didn’t care until now when it can be used as a Trojan horse for tens of billions of dollars more for Ukraine.
“America is acting like it’s September 10th, and we better remember what September 12th felt like, because it only takes one person across that border to create a 9/11 moment,” she said, a very valid point but another one that drew little concern from establishment politicians until now despite warnings about the terrorists who have exploited Biden’s porous borders to enter the U.S. and set up shop.
“We need this fixed now,” Haley demanded. “We need congressional members to stay in D.C. and not leave until they figure this out.”
“The part that I don’t like about the bill doesn’t require them to remain in Mexico, which is very important at keeping them from coming on U.S. soil in the first place,” Haley said. “And I don’t like the 5,000 limit. We don’t want anybody to come in, we can’t say only when 5,000 people have crossed the border.”
“They need to stay there. They need to figure this out,” she added. “They need to adjust it, amend it in any way that they can, and they should not leave D.C. until they get us a border bill and no, we are not waiting until the general election to do this.”
“And it’s irresponsible to say that Congress has to wait until a general election because Trump is worried that he’s going to lose,” Haley said. “There’s a lot of reasons we got to worry Trump’s going to lose, but you don’t sacrifice national security to do it.”
Cavuto had earlier described Haley as “a woman who’s been raising money hand over fist in startling numbers” and the $60 billion for Ukraine that’s tucked inside the “border” bill is very near and dear to the hearts and wallets of her donors.
