PETA gives shout out to Trump White House for putting an end to Fauci’s beloved pastime

Where Dr. Anthony Fauci had received scorn, President Donald Trump earned praise as PETA lauded the administration’s decision on “archaic” practices associated with the former bureaucrat.

The never-ending corporate media COVID circuit and the policy spin that followed in his wake were likely a first glimpse for many into the record of the former director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. However, as the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals organization has often pointed out, the face of The Scienceâ„¢ and his authorization of horrific animal experiments remained “just the tip of the iceberg,” now being chipped away by the GOP leader.

Following announcements from both the Food and Drug Administration and the Environmental Protection Agency on leaving animal testing in the past, PETA’s Senior Vice President Kathy Guillermo issued a statement Thursday.

“PETA applauds the FDA’s decision to stop harming animals and adopt human-relevant testing strategies for evaluating antibody therapies,” she said. “It’s a significant step towards meeting the agency’s commitment to replace the use of animals — which PETA has worked hard to promote. All animal use, including failed vaccine and other testing on monkeys at the federally-funded primate centers, must end, and we are calling on the FDA to further embrace 21st-century science.”

In announcing the FDA’s plan to phase out animal testing requirements on drugs for human use, FDA Commissioner Dr. Marty Makary said, “For too long, drug manufacturers have performed additional animal testing of drugs that have data in broad human use internationally.”

“This initiative marks a paradigm shift in drug evaluation and holds promise to accelerate cures and meaningful treatments for Americans while reducing animal use,” he added.

He further stated, “By leveraging AI-based computational modeling, human organ model-based lab testing, and real-world human data, we can get safer treatments to patients faster and more reliably, while also reducing [research and development] costs and drug prices. It is a win-win for public health and ethics.”

Likewise, EPA spokesperson Molly Vaseliou told The Washington Times, “Under President Trump’s first term, EPA signed a directive to prioritize efforts to reduce animal testing and committed to reducing testing on mammals by 30% by 2025 and to eliminate it completely by 2035. The Biden administration halted progress on these efforts by delaying compliance deadlines. Administrator [Lee] Zeldin is wholly committed to getting the agency back on track to eliminating animal testing.”

PETA’s statement came a day before PETA activists went ahead with their plan to demonstrate outside Walter Reed National Military Medical Center during the president’s annual physical and near Palm Beach International Airport as Trump arrived for a weekend in Florida that included attending UFC 314. The demonstration included activists dressed as dinosaurs with American flags worn as capes bearing a sign with the appeal to “Stop Jurassic-Sized NIH Waste!”

Indicating a shift in sentiment based on the administration’s decision, PETA went on to share White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt’s post regarding the organization’s praise, in which she included a dog emoji, with the caption, “The White House Press Secretary is highlighting this milestone! PETA thanks the Trump administration for modernizing the FDA and helping spare tens of thousands of animals each year from being killed in expensive and archaic laboratory tests.”

Along with the heinous treatment of beagles who were reportedly sedated, restrained and then left to be fed on by sand flies, similar research either approved by Fauci or through his agency’s parent, the National Institutes of Health, included monkeys dosed with methamphetamine, hormone replacement “to make male lab monkeys ‘transgender'” and injecting hamsters with steroids before watching them fight.

As such, PETA celebrated in 2022 when Fauci announced his departure from so-called public service.
