President Trump is being praised for the recent release of American citizen Dena Karari, who had been “wrongfully detained” in Iran since 2024.
Karari’s lawyer, Jared Genser, posted a celebratory message on X, stating that his client’s release would never have happened without the “extraordinary and relentless efforts” of President Trump.
I am delighted and excited to report that my client U.S. citizen #DenaKarari, who had been trapped in #Iran since December 2024 on bogus charges is now free. This would not have happened but for the extraordinary and relentless efforts of President @realDonaldTrump. Dena is now…

Trump also celebrated Karari’s release and gave a bit of praise to Iran for its rare and timely act of ‘Goodwill.’
“Iran has allowed an American Citizen, who was wrongfully detained in December of 2024 under the “presidency” of Sleepy Joe Biden, to leave the Country,” Trump stated on Truth Social. “She is now safely outside of Iran, and in good condition. The United States of America appreciates this gesture of Goodwill by Iran! President DONALD J. TRUMP”

President Trump has been threatening more military operations in Iran over its defiance in nuclear and peace negotiations and its control of the Straight of Hormuz.
The Trump administration launched a round of strikes on Iranian military targets near the Strait of Hormuz on Wednesday.
Did recent U.S. strikes have something to do with Karari’s release? Michael Rothman, “USA Today best-selling novelist” and engineer, certainly thinks so but says there are at least five more Americans still detained in Iran.
“Jonathan Schanzer, executive director of the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, read the release as a crack in the regime’s posture,” Rothman claimed.
“Multiple tracks are running at once — Adam Boehler working hostages, Witkoff, Rubio and Vance working the broader deal — but the pattern is unmistakable: every time Washington escalates, Tehran finds a hostage to hand back,” Rothman continued.
“Iran only discovers ‘good will’ after the bombs start landing.”
The bombs keep falling, and now Iran is starting to blink.
