Publisher shows American Library Association is giving guidance on how to block conservative events

Internal communications from a taxpayer-funded library association set on blocking a Christian conservative publisher couldn’t be clearer as yet another institution was outed as “coming for your children.”

The Brave Books publishing company has made quite an impact positively countering the promoted deviancy of Drag Queen Story Hour with wholesome, morality-based children’s books. So much so, that a nationwide event planned for Aug. 5 may be getting throttled by the American Library Association (ALA).

Monday, Brave Books provided evidence to back their claims that the ALA was instructing libraries across the country on how to block the Kirk Cameron-led Library Takeover Campaign. Included in the lengthy thread was a video of an ALA director, Deborah Caldwell-Stone, suggesting ways “libraries could exploit loopholes” to prevent the simultaneous Brave Book story hours.

“We have obtained exclusive evidence that the taxpayer-funded American Library Association @ALALibrary is circulating guidance to sabotage conservative or Christian parent groups from gathering in public libraries on August 5th,” the thread began. “One ALA director gave suggestions on how libraries could block public meeting room use under the pretext of the space already being taken for other activities.”

Providing background on the event, part of a movement sparked by Cameron’s 2022 release of “As You Grow” that he marked with a library tour that leftists have combatted at every turn, leading in some cases to firings of library officials who tried to silence the Christian celebrity, the thread then noted the amount of money that is pumped into the ALA courtesy of taxpayers, and how much leverage that has afforded them in the culture war.

“In 2022, the federal government increased funding that benefits the American Library Association to the tune of $211 million. @ALALibrary is a 501(c)(3) non-profit that wields significant power by developing agendas, leadership, and programming for thousands of public libraries across the U.S. As with many public institutions, they’ve been long captured by critical race and gender ideologies with radical political goals,” Brave Books asserted.

“On June 8, Deborah Caldwell-Stone, a director at the [ALA], spoke at the ‘Library 2023 Worldwide Virtual Conference.’ She gave a presentation about how libraries could exploit loopholes to block Brave Books story hours. One idea she suggested was scheduling events on Aug. 5 to prevent locals from hosting a conservative story hour,” the publisher continued. “The screenshot below is from her presentation.”

Recently, the Department of Education funded Great Lakes Equity Center’s Midwest and Plains Equity Assistance Center was also exposed for using taxpayer money to fund “subversive” workarounds to newly enacted laws prohibiting the promotion of transgenderism in their more than 7,000 schools, that included keeping secrets from parents and providing students whatever they needed.

“If you’re a public library worker, now is the time to prepare for what could be either an onslaught or a big nothing burger,” Kelly Jenson wrote for Book Riot. “In hoping for the latter, preparing for the former will ensure that your library is indeed in a strong position to defend the choices it makes in the interest of its purpose, its staff, and its users. This includes reviewing your policies around meeting rooms and meeting with your legal representation on what requirements you can and cannot make of those requesting rooms (specifically around security — someone like Cameron, via his profile, is a public safety concern but also, knowing that increased law enforcement at the public library is antithetical to the tenants of librarianship and is an impediment for the use of the facility by marginalized individuals, what do you do?).”

Brave Books went on to reveal a leaked email attributed to the children’s services coordinator for NJ State Library that included Jenson’s recommendations to prevent the event featuring books with “right-wing ideology.”

To get ahead of possible roadblocks for the Aug. 5 event, Brave Books asked that any information about libraries prohibiting access be submitted to [email protected].

As was chanted at a New York City “Pride” event over the weekend, the leftists are no longer hiding their agenda and chanted, “We’re here, we’re queer, we’re coming for your children.”
