Vivek Ramaswamy broke the silence on his abrupt departure from the newly created Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), an agency tasked by President Donald J. Trump to eliminate government waste.
The former GOP presidential candidate appeared to be ready and raring to go before his remarks critical of American culture during a Christmas week social media firestorm over H1-B visas were pounced on by leftist media and other bad actors to drive a wedge between Elon Musk and Trump, spurring rumors of tensions between Ramaswamy and his fellow DOGE boss.
But he put those rumors to rest during a Monday appearance on “Jesse Watters Primetime” on Fox News, telling host Jesse Watters that there is no truth to reports of a sour relationship with Musk and teasing a big announcement about his political future. Ramaswamy is expected to soon announce that he’s running to be Ohio’s next governor.

The host joked that he was departing DOGEÂ “after like three Scaramuccis” and inquired as to why. “Scaramuccis” is a term for a unit of measurement referring to the very short tenure of Anthony Scaramucci, the former Trump White House director of communications who was fired after just 11 days on the job, going on to become a mainstream media favorite for his caustic attacks on his one-time boss.
“Well, the reality is, I’m pursuing an elected office very shortly,” Ramaswamy responded. “We will have an announcement soon.”
Watters asked about the rumors concerning tensions between him and Musk.
“I think that’s incorrect,’ Ramaswamy responded. “But what I would say is, we had different and complementary approaches.”
The host then asked point blank if he’d been fired by Musk.
“It’s – no, we had a mutual discussion,” the biotech entrepreneur responded. “And I think I wish him well.”
Ramaswamy then elaborated on the difference between him and the X owner.
“I focused more on a constitutional law, legislative-based approach,” he told Watters. “They focused more on a technology approach, which is the future approach.”
“No better person to lead that technology, digital approach than Elon Musk,” he added.
“But when you’re talking about a constitutional revival, it’s not just done through the federal government, it’s done through federalism, where states also lead the way,” Ramaswamy continued. “So I will have to be saying more on that very shortly Jesse, but that’s going to be my next stop.”
He also insisted that he and Musk were on the “same page” despite the gossip that they didn’t see eye-to-eye.
“Divide and conquer,” Ramaswamy said. “In saving the country, it’s not a one-man show from the top down or the bottom up. It’s all of the above. And that’s what I’m for.”
The Buckeye State native suggested that an announcement of a gubernatorial run was imminent and that he was flying back to his home state later on Monday night.
“We look at the country over the last 20 years, Silicon Valley was at the bleeding edge of the American economy. I think the Ohio River Valley can be at the bleeding edge of the American economy for the next 20 years,” Ramaswamy said.
“People leaving this state from New York or California, right now, they go to Florida or Texas,” he added. “I think places like Ohio should be where they’re headed in the next couple of decades.”
