Rashida Tlaib calls on Michigan voters to ditch Biden in upcoming Democrat primary

U.S. Rep. Rashida Tlaib has been a vocal critic of President Joe Biden and his stance on the Israel-Hamas war, but she has now ramped up efforts against him in the 2024 election.

The Michigan Democrat urged voters in her state to turn from the party and vote “uncommitted” in the upcoming Democratic presidential primary. With just a week to go before Michigan voters cast their votes, the first Palestinian American woman to serve in Congress shared a video message on social media from outside the Ford Civic Center in Dearborn.

“It is important, as you all know, to not only march against the genocide, not only make sure that we’re calling our members of Congress and local electeds and passing city resolutions all throughout our country – it is also important to create a voting bloc, something that is a bullhorn to say enough is enough,” Tlaib said in the video shared on X shared by the Listen to Michigan campaign.

“We don’t want a country that supports wars, and bombs and destruction, we want to support life,” the progressive ‘Squad’ member continued. “We want to stand up for every single life killed in Gaza.”

“I want you to think of all of the amazing young children and the people, again, lives were lost in Gaza. This is the way you can raise our voices. Don’t make us even more invisible. Right now, we feel completely neglected and just unseen by our government. If you want us to be louder, then come here and vote uncommitted,” Tlaib declared.

The pro-Palestinian group that posted the video declares that “Biden must earn our vote through a dramatic change in policy.”

“Michigan voters are sending Biden a clear message in the February 27 Democratic primary that he can count us out. We are filling out the UNCOMMITTED bubble because we strongly reject Biden’s funding war and genocide in Gaza,” Listen to Michigan states on its website, invoking the threat of former President Donald Trump.

“Trump only won Michigan in 2016 by about 10,000 votes. Uncommitted Michigan Democrats opposed to Biden’s policy in Gaza can demonstrate that we hold his margin of victory for re-election,” the group claims.

The site asserts that Biden is “not representing the vast majority of Democrats who want a ceasefire and an end to his funding of Israel’s war in Gaza” and that the “young people who put him in office and turned out in the midterms — and are now out protesting his policies in the streets.”

NBC News reported:

On Wednesday, Our Revolution, a progressive political organization founded by Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., also urged Michigan Democrats to vote “uncommitted” in the primary. (Sanders has distanced himself from the group’s position, saying he supports Biden’s re-election bid.)

The group did make clear, though, that while it’s pushing its members to vote against Biden now, it will back him again in November.

Tlaib’s outspoken antisemitism has been no secret and she has repeatedly targeted Biden since the Hamas terrorists unleashed their despicable attack on Israeli citizens on October 7.

“I say this over and over again because I hope you hear me,” the Democrat said at a press conference in December, directing her words at Biden.

“You might — you must listen to the voices of the majority of Americans and the majority of Democrats, who worked their butt off to get you elected. You have to represent all of us, Mr. President. Not just some. Call for a ceasefire now,” Tlaib said.

She has been widely criticized for her continued support of the terrorist organization and was censured by her House colleagues in November for “promoting false narratives regarding the October 7, 2023, Hamas attack on Israel and for calling for the destruction of the state of Israel.”

She again was called out for not voting in favor of a bipartisan resolution condemning the Hams attack.
