Reports that Marjorie Taylor Greene is prepping to run for president in 2028 make sense, but are they true?

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene on Wednesday slammed reports that she intends to run for president as “baseless rumors.”

“The only thing that I’m focused on is being a representative for my district,” she told NewsNation, adding that she blocked the reporter on social media who started the rumor.

That reporter, Reese Gorman, penned a report for NOTUS earlier Wednesday alleging that the congresswoman has been “telling people she wants to run for president in 2028.”

“She has confided to colleagues that she wants to run for president, according to four sources familiar with the matter, including one who has spoken with her directly about it,” Gorman wrote.

“One source says her conversations have centered around her belief she is ‘real MAGA and that the others have strayed,’ adding that she believes she has ‘the national donor network to win the primary,'” he added.

As evidence, Gorman’s sources pointed to MTG’s recent media tour on CNN, “The View,” and “Real Talk,” as signs that she’s trying to reach a wider audience ahead of her potential 2028 presidential campaign.

In fairness to the congresswoman, she pushed back hard when comedian Tim Dillon broached the rumor during an interview last month.

“Oh my goodness, I hate politics so much, Tim,” Greene replied. “People are saying that, and I’ve seen a few people saying ‘she’s running.’ What I’m doing right now is I very much want to fix problems. That’s honestly all I care about.”

The rumor’s publication also comes amid MTG’s continued attacks on the GOP for anything and everything, from her obsessive insistence on releasing the Epstein files to her attempts to force Republicans to extend Democrats’ COVID-era Obamacare subsidies.

“Let’s just say as nicely as possible, I’m not a fan,” she recently tweeted about Obamacare. “But I’m going to go against everyone on this issue because when the tax credits expire this year, my own adult children’s insurance premiums for 2026 are going to DOUBLE, along with all the wonderful families and hard-working people in my district.”

She’s also been slamming House Speaker Mike Johnson over what she considers to be his allegedly poor leadership.

“I have no problem pointing fingers at everyone,” she said earlier this week on “The View.” “And the worst thing that I just can’t get over is we’re not working right now. And I put that criticism directly on the speaker of the House, and we should be at work.”

When confronted by Gorman with these rumors, Greene directly slammed the rumors as trash.

She reportedly texted Gorman that he’d “posted a baseless article” and questioned who his sources were.

“Who is your source? Laura Loomer?” the congresswoman asked. “She claimed I was running for governor last week and announcing it on ‘The View.’ Once again, you publish baseless gossip. Very disappointing. Don’t text me again.”

During Greene’s NewsNation appearance on Wednesday, she also addressed Democrat Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s allegation that she’s been on a “revenge tour” (the recent media appearances) because of major disagreements with President Donald Trump and other Republicans.

“Greene dismissed allegations from Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) that she’s on a ‘revenge tour’ after Trump blocked her Senate ambitions,” NewsNation confirmed.

Below is what Ocasio-Cortez said:

“Here’s some tea for you,” the congresswoman said in the Instagram clip above. “MTG, people are like, ‘Oh my God, she’s saying all these things, like, what’s gotten into her lately?’ ‘Oh, like, she’s bucking against Trump, she’s bucking against the administration.'”

“Marjorie Taylor Greene wanted to run for Senate in Georgia. She wanted to run for Senate earlier this year in the state of Georgia; she wanted to be the Republican nominee for Senate. So, she was gearing up for that statewide race, and Trump told her no. And the White House and Trump Land shut down Marjorie Taylor Greene’s personal ambitions to run for Senate, and she has been on a revenge tour ever since,” AOC added.
