Sec Duffy confirms truck barreling wrong way down highway driven by an illegal

As seen earlier this week in President Donald J. Trump’s State of the Union address, Democrats chose illegal aliens when they refused to stand to reaffirm that “the first duty of the American government is to protect American citizens.”

A defining moment that not only exposes the Democratic Party but also shines a spotlight on many of their policies that ultimately endanger the lives of American citizens while serving as an enticement for illegal immigration — none more reckless than the skirting of regulations to allow foreign drivers who cannot pass an English proficiency test to obtain a commercial driver’s license.

The stories continue to grow of the carnage on our streets brought about under these dire circumstances, with the latest example being an alleged Somali truck driver who couldn’t comprehend road signs, driving south on the northbound lanes of Highway 61 in Missouri. The driver was eventually pulled over by the Missouri State Highway Patrol, who said he failed an English proficiency test.

Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy responded to the video above to say, “Thanks to Missouri law enforcement, this dangerous trucker is now out of service. [Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration] is also investigating the carrier, Cargo Transportation LLC. We will not stop until America’s roads are safe again for families.”

Missouri Governor Mike Kehoe responded to Duffy’s post to call on all states to ensure that CDL holders are “QUALIFIED.”

Sen. Eric Schmitt (R-Mo.) responded to a Fox News report on the incident, echoing that the truck is registered to a company in Minnesota that is “headquartered in a 600 SQFT apartment and run by a man named Abdiwali Ahmed.” The senator added in all caps, “WAR ON FRAUD.”

For what it’s worth, the Minnesota Department of Public Safety released a statement saying the agency “takes our role in helping keep our roads safe very seriously.”

“We don’t yet know the facts of this situation, so we will wait to learn more from the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Association’s (FMCSA) investigation. However, we can confirm that all CDL applicants in Minnesota must take their knowledge and behind-the-wheel testing in English to demonstrate the ability to safely operate a commercial vehicle. When issuing any CDL or commercial learner’s permit (CLP), our Driver and Vehicle Services division follows the requirements set by federal rules (CFR 383),” the statement said.

There have been multiple reports of people being killed in accidents involving illegal alien drivers who struggled with the English language, including three people killed in Florida in August 2025 by an illegal alien who had been issued a CDL in California. Three people were killed in California by another licensed illegal alien in October 2025, and just this month, four were killed in Indiana by an illegal alien who was issued a CDL in Pennsylvania.
