Seven Democrats fed up with border nightmare turn on Biden: ‘federal crisis of inaction’

As the ongoing catastrophe at the southern border continues to spiral out of control, seven Democrats have evidently reached their breaking point and have turned on President Biden over it.

The New York Post is reporting that seven prominent Democrats and one Independent are calling on Biden to do something about illegal immigrants flooding sanctuary cities.

The most recent upper-tier Democrat to speak out is Massachusetts Gov. Maura Healey who asserts that her state is handling the influx while the federal government is missing in action over the deluge. She declared a statewide emergency last week over migrants inundating Massachusetts.

“Massachusetts has stepped up to address what sadly has been a federal crisis of inaction that is many years in the making,” she declared in her letter to federal authorities. The statement seemingly tried to spread the blame over multiple administrations but took direct aim at President Biden.

The governor is demanding that the Biden administration step up and foot the bill for approximately 5,600 migrant families, which amounts to 20,000 illegal immigrants currently being housed in state shelters. That includes pregnant women and children.

Chicago Alderman Raymond Lopez has also had enough and is calling on Biden to tour overrun migrant camps in the Windy City. Chicago is reportedly one of the top five destinations for illegal immigrants in the country.

I invite you to see firsthand what we are forced to do while waiting for [US Citizenship and Immigration Services] to take the steps necessary to move the needle on this crisis,” Lopez declared in an open letter to Biden in July.

“This facility, along with the 11 shelters offering semi-permanent housing to the migrants and asylum-seekers, are pushing our city to the brink unnecessarily because of the lax response from Secretary Mayorkas and USCIS Director Jaddou,” he contended.

Republicans are still hammering the Biden administration over letting the situation explode but now Democrats are holding the president’s feet to the fire because they are experiencing it firsthand.

“They were ignoring this crisis that’s been going since Joe Biden took office,” Republican National Congressional Committee Spokeswoman Savannah Viar charged in a phone interview with the New York Post.

“In Joe Biden’s America, every state is a border state. Now that their backyards have become the border because this crisis has gotten so out of hand under the Democrats, they’re now acting like they always supported securing the border,” she asserted referring to the hypocrisy of Democrats in blue sanctuary cities.

Viar did not mince words and highlighted the leftist laws in New York City and Massachusetts requiring that shelter be provided to migrants. She noted that it makes the situation worse at the border and that they only have themselves to blame for it. The actual solution is not to let illegal immigrants into the United States in the first place.

“They invited this into their own backyard by creating sanctuary cities so now, they need to put up,” she stated. “Now [sanctuary cities] are experiencing what the southern border cities, like El Paso, have been seeing for years now.”

New York City Mayor Eric Adams has done an absolute about-face, going from welcoming illegal immigrants with “open arms” a year ago, to claiming the federal government “turned its back” on the city as it deals with a humanitarian crisis that could cost taxpayers $12 billion.

Democratic Rep. Jamaal Bowman, who represents the Bronx and parts of Westchester County, told reporters, “We need leadership from President Biden, period. We need that leadership right here in New York State because you know, New York State is struggling. We’re struggling to provide housing and all the support that the migrants need.”

“There is reason to hope that the plight of sanctuary mayors will put pressure on Pres. Biden,” Eric Ruark, Director of Research at NumbersUSA, told the New York Post in an interview.

“When a Republican speaks out, whether a mayor or a member of Congress, the response from the Biden Administration usually is, ‘They don’t understand what’s going on,’ or ‘They’re against immigration reform,’” he noted.

Democratic US Senator Mark Kelly of Arizona also roasted Biden’s “dumb” border policies, according to NBC News.

Arizona’s Democrat Governor Katie Hobbs and Congressman Ruben Gallegos have reportedly blasted Biden’s border policies recently. They have requested more help as a massive surge of illegal immigrants overwhelms the state despite having facilitated it.

US Border Patrol statistics indicate that they have been encountering up to 1,900 migrants a day, which is more than double the number who were crossing in June.

“DC has shown little regard for the actual crisis that’s occurring in Arizona,” Independent US Senator Kyrsten Sinema said in May according to the New York Post. “We’ve paid the price for the federal government’s failure to fix our broken immigration system for most of my lifetime.”

The newspaper reported that Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. also hit Biden over it, “We should have closed the border.”

There are many more Democrats who are actually hammering Biden over keeping asylum seekers out of the country.

NBC News reported that in January, over 70 Democrats sent Biden a letter excoriating his administration for restricting asylum access for migrants crossing the southern border.
