Show’s over! Dave Chappelle reportedly drops mic, storms off stage when fan pulls out phone

Dave Chappelle abruptly ended a Florida show this week and stormed off the stage after a member of the audience took out a cellphone during the performance, a strict no-no at his performances.

Fans who had shelled out over $100 for seats to see the 50-year-old stand-up comedian were disappointed during the Wednesday show at the Hard Rock Live in Hollywood when the evening’s entertainment was cut short when Chappelle reportedly “scolded” the crowd and walked off near the end of the set “shaking his head in apparent anger” after alerting security.

The show was the second in the comic’s five-night stand at the 7,000-seat venue located inside of the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Broward County.

According to a notice on the Hard Rock’s website, “Cell phones and other mobile devices are prohibited for this show to create the best distraction-free environment for all guests in attendance,” per the request of the artist.

There is no video of the incident, so as the Miami Herald reports, “the guy obviously didn’t sell the footage to TMZ or another gossip outlet — yet.”

“It’s a Celebration B!%?#&S!’ is a jubilant recognition of a golden milestone year for the comedic genius,” the show’s description reads. “Renowned for his unparalleled wit, razor-sharp commentary and fearless approach to tackling life’s most absurd moments, Dave Chappelle promises to ignite the stage with his larger-than-life presence.”

Chappelle’s fans took to X, previously known as Twitter, to express their disappointment.

Chappelle has courted controversy with humorless LGBTQ+ activists and other intolerant weirdos for his jokes about transgenders, the minuscule demographic that sits at the very pinnacle of the left-wing pyramid of “oppressed” identity groups, and last year was attacked onstage during a show at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, CA.

“Guests with mobile devices will receive Yondr cases and must secure their devices, including smartwatches and cameras, inside the locked cases,” an archived version of the venue’s Chappelle page reads. “Mobile devices must be held by guests in locked Yondr cases during the performance.”

“Yondr cases are lockable, flexible, neoprene pouches that assure a phone-free event experience. Guests will be required to switch their phones to vibrate to avoid disruption from incoming notifications. It is the responsibility of each guest to maintain possession of their mobile device inside the venue. The pouches will be unlocked at the end of the show. If needed, guests will be able to use their phones in designated areas,” the notice reads.

Chappelle’s latest Netflix comedy special “The Dreamer” debuts on New Year’s Eve on the streaming video service.
