The Smithsonian Institution has unveiled a new portrait of President Donald J. Trump and has removed references to January 6 and the Democrats’ two sham impeachments from the former placard.
Previously reading “Impeached twice, on charges of abuse of power and incitement of insurrection after supporters attacked the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021, he was acquitted by the Senate in both trials,” the placard now notes Trump’s birthdate and that he is the 45th and 47th president.
The previously displayed portrait in the National Portrait Gallery’s “America’s Presidents” showed the president with his hands folded and a black background; the new exhibit seen by visitors is a black and white photo of a determined-looking Trump in the Oval Office with his fists balled on the resolute desk, looking directly into the camera.

The black and white photograph was taken by White House photographer Daniel Torok and was previously shared by Trump in an October 2025 Truth Social post, reading “In the Oval Office, getting ready to leave our imprint on the World. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”
“For the first time in history, the Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery has hung up an iconic photo taken by the White House honoring President Trump,” White House spokesman Davis Ingle told Fox News Digital of the new image. “His unmatched aura will be seen and felt throughout the halls of the National Portrait Gallery.”
Currently, Trump’s display is the only one that lacks a description of key events of his presidency. Reportedly, placards for the other two presidents who were formally impeached, Bill Clinton and Andrew Johnson, both mention their impeachments.
However, it should be noted that both leaders were impeached before Democrats decided to frivolously weaponize a measure that the Founding Fathers intended to be used rarely and for legitimate purposes. Thus, the reason why it was only invoked twice in nearly two and a half centuries, before Nancy Pelosi’s spiteful abuse.
The reference to the so-called “insurrection” on January 6th was also taken down despite it being a nearly holy day for Democrats who marked the 5th anniversary of the event which was used by the Biden administration as justification for a repressive campaign of persecution against its enemies, including ordinary Americans caught up in the chaos, many of whom were held as political prisoners under deplorable conditions.
In a statement to media outlets, the National Portrait Gallery said that it had put up the new image of Trump on Thursday and that it is updating the “America’s Presidents” exhibition.
“For some new exhibitions and displays, the museum has been exploring quotes or tombstone labels, which provide only general information, such as the artist’s name,” read the statement, according to the New York Times. “The history of presidential impeachments continues to be represented in our museums.”
Trump has been critical of the nation’s premier museum for its fixation on “woke” left-wing ideology.
“The Museums throughout Washington, but all over the Country are, essentially, the last remaining segment of ‘WOKE.’ The Smithsonian is OUT OF CONTROL, where everything discussed is how horrible our Country is, how bad Slavery was, and how unaccomplished the downtrodden have been — Nothing about Success, nothing about Brightness, nothing about the Future,” Trump wrote in an August Truth Social post.
