Soros-backed prosecutor drops six counts, man accused of child sex crimes gets no jail with plea deal

A Texas family is outraged after the pervert who sexually abused their child was sentenced to probation instead of prison by prosecutors working under a Soros-funded district attorney.

Prosecutors working under Travis County District Attorney Jose Garza allowed suspect Richard Leigh Bell to plead guilty to just one count of injury to a child, a third-degree felony, according to station KVUE.

In allowing him to plead guilty, they dropped six counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child and two counts of indecency with a child.

And in allowing him to plead guilty to just one paltry count, the prosecutors opened the door for Bell to walk out of court on Monday with a five-year deferred probation sentence.

Bell must also not contact his victim or her family, have any contact with children, and register as a sex offender.

“I was outraged to find out that this was not only our first and last plea deal, but this was our deal, whether I liked it or not,” the outraged father of the victim told KVUE.

“I think any parent would expect somebody to rot in jail for doing something like this. As time went on, I expected a realistic plea deal to be years at least — long enough to serve some time in prison where you belong if you have successfully carried out pedophilic acts,” he added.

The only potential good news is that if Bell screws up just one time, he’ll be headed to prison for sure.

“In Texas, deferred adjudication lets defendants avoid a conviction if they complete probation successfully, though any violation can trigger sentencing on the original charge,” Fox News notes.

As for Garza, the district attorney, he’s a beneficiary of radically left-wing billionaire George Soros’ political activism and philanthropy.

“Garza, who took office in deep-blue Travis County in 2021 after a campaign backed by progressive billionaire Soros, pledged to ‘reimagine’ criminal justice and prosecute police officers,” according to Fox News.

He’s fiercely defended his record as DA, alleging he’s been “doing exactly what Travis County voters elected him to do — fixing our broken criminal justice system by standing with survivors, working to end the excessive use of force by police, and prioritizing treatment over incarceration for nonviolent drug offenses.”

In reality, Garza’s tenure in office has been widely criticized. In 2023, the DA made headlines when his incompetence led to an alleged murderer being let off scot-free.

“In 2023, Garza had charged Dekatur Dalon Richey with murder,” law professor Thomas Hogan revealed for City Journal. “The trial was set to begin, with the jury seated and sworn in, when it was revealed that Garza’s prosecution team had failed to turn over exculpatory evidence, so-called Brady material. This is one of a prosecutor’s most basic duties, understood even by first-year law students.”

“The omission forced Garza’s office to dismiss the case. … Because the jury was already sworn in, the U.S. Constitution’s Double Jeopardy clause prevents the defendant from ever again being charged or tried for this murder. Garza’s incompetence in running the Travis County district attorney’s office thus gave a free pass to an alleged murderer,” he added.

But it gets worse, according to Richey, as Garza’s “failure to issue timely indictments” has “resulted in violent criminals getting released from jail” over and over and over again.

“In one case, a defendant charged with aggravated assault was automatically freed on bond after 90 days and went on to commit a murder,” he explained. “In another, a murder defendant—alleged to have killed a man because he suspected the victim was cooperating with the police—was not indicted within 90 days and ended up getting released on a $100 bond.”

Garza is one of dozens of district attorneys across the United States who are actively being funded and promoted by Soros.
