That didn’t take long …
West Virginia Sen. Joe Manchin, a Democrat, has already been upgraded from a “traitor” to a full-out “racist” for his Sunday announcement that he will NOT support President Joe Biden’s “Build Back Better” proposal.
This latest attack comes from radically left-wing New York Rep. Jamaal Bowman, the Democrat who last year called standardized testing a “pillar of systemic racism.”
Speaking on CNN late Monday, he launched into a long, racially charged diatribe after being asked for his response to Manchin’s announcement. While he didn’t actually use the word “racist,” the message came through loud and clear.
“I was infuriated when I heard those comments. … [T]his bill disproportionately supports people of color. It supports people of color. It supports women. It supports children. It supports those who are poor and lifts them out of poverty. Why wouldn’t Manchin want to support that, when this would benefit West Virginia tremendously?” he said.
To be clear, critics such as Manchin say the bill would ultimately hurt Americans by further spiking inflation. It’d also raise the deficit and disproportionately hurt the middle class by raising their taxes and drastically increasing the cost of child care.
As the Senate weighs changes to the spending and tax portions of the Build Back Better Act, the CBO and Tax Foundation find the bill would increase the cumulative budget deficit over the next 10 years—contrary to claims the legislation is “fully paid for.” https://t.co/eSxkXqxBgw pic.twitter.com/HH5BfuKhuk

Bowman continued by really digging deep into a “white man bad” narrative.
“It’s tremendously frustrating for me as a black man in America, because once again it’s an example of Joe Manchin, as a white man, showing that he doesn’t care about black people. He doesn’t care about Latinos. He doesn’t care about immigrants. He doesn’t care about women. And he doesn’t care about the poor,” the Democrat congressman said.
“He is a millionaire, and he has the privilege to kick the can down the road and not vote for this bill, while the people in my district are suffering. We just buried a 17-year-old who was shot dead in the head a couple of weeks ago. This bill has 2.5 billion for violence prevention.”
To be clear, the $2.5 billion for so-called “violence prevention” doesn’t involve funding the police or forcing Democrat prosecutors to actually prosecute criminals.
“It has universal childcare, universal pre-K. It finally deals with climate issue. The same way black and brown people and women were kept out of the New Deal, Joe Manchin is trying to keep people out of this bill today, and it’s unacceptable. We need to do everything in our power to make sure it passes,” Bowman concluded.
The remarks provoked backlash on social media, where critics bashed Bowman for resorting to the Democrats’ longtime habit of tossing out the race card whenever they don’t get their way.
Incidentally, among the naysayers were a notable number of so-called “people of color,” in addition to white people:
Could you all stop using the race card. No one is listening but your poor one track minded audience. Here in the Republican world, we are United as one. There’s many colors and lots of Love. Y’all should come and check it out. #MAGA is the way now.

As a Hispanic woman and US citizen, I thank GOD for @Sen_JoeManchin!!We need to pay down the national debt and fix SS and Medicare, not increase it with wasteful spending…especially student loan forgiveness. Pay your own damn loans…not the taxpayers responsibility!!!!

If I lived in Virginia I’d vote for him!

Wow 🤩 That didn’t take long for the left turn to on him and pull the race card on their own party member because he has a different opinion about policy. Hey in case you didn’t hear no means no!

You’re really going to pull the race card here? Unbelievable! Voting no on a bill others want, isn’t racist. It won’t help the poor, not in the long run as it would only create more inflation among other problems. I’m poor & female, I don’t want it & know a lot that feel the same

So predictable. It is the only attack they can come up with.

I think you covered all the victim groups on this one Mr Bowman. Good job 🙄

Bowman is the typical “oppressed” race hustler who has no talent, no common sense, no love for America, and no qualifications other than his worn and tattered race card. pic.twitter.com/scpWvbGhfk

What remains unclear is what exactly Bowman and other far-left zealots are seeking in their attacks against Manchin.
Some have argued that their attacks could ultimately prompt the West Virginia senator into outright leaving the party, a move that could lead to Republicans retaking majority control of the U.S. Senate.
In fact, congressional Republicans aren’t just sitting back and doing nothing — they’re attempting to exploit the Democrat Party’s anti-Manchin rage to their advantage by inviting the senator to switch teams.
“Obviously we would love to have him on our team. I think he’d be more comfortable. Why in the world would they want to call him a liar and try to hotbox him and embarrass him?” Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell said to The New York Times on Tuesday.
“I think the message is, ‘We don’t want you around.’ Obviously that is up to Joe Manchin, but he is clearly not welcome on that side of the aisle.”
And it’s 100 percent guaranteed that if he does switch teams, he’ll never be called “racist” by his fellow Republicans. He will definitely be called “racist” by Democrats, of course, but that’s already happening this very moment, so …
