A hoodie-wearing man “randomly and without provocation” attacked a 45-year-old man in a Nashville laundromat on Wednesday, beating him repeatedly on the head and neck with a cane or pipe as a frightened witness scrambled to get out of the door.
“Please be on the lookout for this man who randomly and without provocation attacked a 45 yr old in a laundry mat on Dickerson Pk Wed night,” the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department tweeted on Thursday.
According to police, the assailant was suspected in three other “similar attacks” which took place on the 16th, 18th, and 19th of this month.
“He may be driving a small silver SUV,” the authorities added.

Roughly eight hours later, police announced that they had arrested 32-year-old Khadree Renfro in connection to the crime.
“BREAKING: The suspected attacker, Khadree Renfro, 32, was arrested tonight on Pennock Avenue by detectives from the Violent Crimes Division & the East Precinct’s Community Field Intelligence Team,” the department tweeted. “Charges are forthcoming.”
In a follow-up tweet, the police reported, “Renfro has been booked on 3 counts of attempted criminal homicide.”

“It happened last night,” a laundromat employee told WKRN on Thursday. “It’s just like the place is empty, like he was waiting on the right moment to come in.”
On March 16, a man having car trouble was attacked, and on the 18th, the victim of a random attack was at a gas station.
The following day, “a jogger was attacked with a jagged pipe” and was “sent to the hospital with deep cuts on his legs and a head injury,” the outlet reported.
A dog apparently warned its owner of that attack.
“I thought he’d seen another dog or something,” the owner said, “but then I hear someone yell, and I turn around and there’s a guy on the ground getting, like, beat with this pipe.”
She said her dog, Charlie, was “going crazy and barking.”

Though Renfro’s race was not mentioned by the Nashville Metro Police, many on Twitter are calling the random attack a “hate crime.”
“Why no hate crime charges?” asked one Twitter user.
“Exactly,” another replied, “they said it was a random unprovoked attack. He didn’t rob the guy. He didn’t know the guy. So that leaves ONE reason why he did it.”
“Where is the hate crime charge @MNPDNashville?” the user demanded to know. “The public wants an answer.”
“If it was a white guy doing that to a black guy hate crime charges would be immediate and they’d be searching his texts, social media, whatever for any HINT of racist views to make the charges stick,” the first poster stated. “Hell, a black person could be robbing a white person these days and if the white person stops them Biden DOJ would be looking to press hate crime charges… that is how crazy sh*t has become.”

And Americans do believe that crime is up under President Joe Biden’s leadership.
“Americans are more likely now than at any time over the past five decades to say there is more crime in their local area than there was a year ago,” Gallup reported in October. “The 56% of U.S. adults who report an increase in crime where they live marks a five-percentage-point uptick since last year and is the highest by two points in Gallup’s trend dating back to 1972.”
“Public perceptions of an increase in crime at the national level have also edged up since last year,” the article continued, “as 78% say there is now more crime in the U.S.”
