Taylor Swift’s rep tries to explain away outrageous CO2 footprint as fans turn on celebs

Pop diva Taylor Swift, known for her commitment to all things trendy, virtuous, and environmentally friendly, is under fire after a new study from a sustainability marketing agency revealed that her private plane is the worst among the very worst of privileged celebrities’ private planes when it comes to planet-killing CO2 emissions.

According to research from Yard, since January, the singer’s luxurious plane has been in the air 170 times.

To put that into perspective, we are currently 210 days into 2022.

The average flight on Air Swift traversed only 139.36 miles and lasted just 80 minutes, yet the aircraft amassed a climate-crushing 22,923 airborne minutes since the start of the year.

Again, for perspective, that’s 15.9 days or just under 6,762 uninterrupted replays of “Shake it Off.”

Total flight emissions so far in 2022 tip the scales of sustainability at 8,293.54 tons — a shameful 1,184.8 times more than one of her adoring fans is likely to produce in an entire year.

On its shortest recorded flight, Swift’s private plane was in the air for a mere 36 minutes as it flew from Missouri to Nashville.

The hypocrisy would be almost unbearable were it not for Ms. Swift’s totally legit justification for dooming mankind to a climate catastrophe: She lets her pals take the plane out for a spin.

In a comment obtained by Rolling Stone, Swift’s representative stated, “Taylor’s jet is loaned out regularly to other individuals. To attribute most or all of these trips to her is blatantly incorrect.”

So you see, it’s all good. It’s all fine.

The planet can absorb those emissions if it’s flying for a friend.

Earth knows Taylor Swift is just being her adorable, generous self.

Celebrities and their flight logs took center stage recently after Kylie Jenner shared on social media a black and white photo of her and Travis Scott embracing on the tarmac between their two private jets.

“You wanna take mine or yours?” Jenner captioned the photo.

The post quickly went viral on Twitter, as disgusted users voiced their outrage.

It was, said one user, a “3 MINUTE PRIVATE JET ride from her mansion to the airport — she WASTED the crew, the gas & the Earth is SCREAMING in 114 degrees to save 10min = Kardashians don’t give AF.”

Surprisingly, Kylie didn’t even make it into the Yard’s top ten list, which includes other celebrity offenders such as Floy Mayweather, Jay-Z, Blake Shelton, and Seven Spielberg.

And now, the storm of criticism that was pelting Ms. Jenner has shifted to Ms. Swift, and frankly, some of the scathing tweets are hilarious.

But to Yard, celebrity CO2 emissions are nothing to laugh at.

“It’s easy to get lost in the dazzling lives of the rich and famous, but unfortunately, they’re a massive part of the CO2 problem we have with the aviation industry,” said Yard Digital Sustainability Director Chris Butterworth. “Aviation is responsible for 2.4% of human-produced CO2e every year, and research shows a vast divide between the super-rich and the rest of us regarding flights, travel, and even general emissions.”

“Previous data has shown that just 15% of the population takes 70% of the flights every year, and our data reveals that the average amount of CO2e produced by our celebrities – only by their private jets – in 2022 so far is 3376.64 tonnes each,” Yard reports. “To put that in perspective, the average person emits just 7 tonnes of CO2e – annually.”
