Hochul declares ‘Disaster Emergency’ over monkeypox, but is political correctness to blame for its spread?

New York Gov. Kathy Hochul is facing criticism for declaring a state of “disaster emergency” over monkeypox despite it primarily affecting only one group of people.

“After reviewing the latest data on the monkeypox outbreak in New York State, I am declaring a State Disaster Emergency to strengthen our aggressive ongoing efforts to confront this outbreak. More than one in four monkeypox cases in this country are in New York State, and we need to utilize every tool in our arsenal as we respond,” Hochul said in a statement Friday.

It’s especially important to recognize the ways in which this outbreak is currently having a disproportionate impact on certain at-risk groups. That’s why my team and I are working around the clock to secure more vaccines, expand testing capacity and responsibly educate the public on how to stay safe during this outbreak,” she added.

Notice what she said about “at-risk groups.” Though left unsaid, she meant homosexuals — especially homosexual men.

The fact is that monkeypox has primarily affected homosexual men like the promiscuous fellow seen below:

This isn’t meant as a judgment but rather as a mere factual observation. However, it’s an observation that the establishment and its vast array of “experts” have often refused to acknowledge.

“Even though the majority of cases back in May were already connected to gay male social venues, most media outlets not only refused to acknowledge it, they said doing so would encourage discrimination,” the New York Post notes.

“Even the UN weighed in on the potential monkeypox blame-game, stating in a May 22 release that the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) was concerned ‘that some media reporting and commentary was reinforcing homophobic and racist stereotypes.'”

Why is this happening? Because of politics. The same politics that so frequently corrupted the establishment’s response to the COVID pandemic.

Remember when it was NOT OK for anti-mask protesters to convene publicly, but it was OK for thousands of Black Lives Matter rioters to “protest?”

Something similar is happening again, and much like last time, it makes no sense, with what’s “right” and what’s “wrong” being redefined by the second.

Originally, it was wrong to even suggest that monkeypox was affecting gay men. But these days, the narrative has changed.

“Now, ironically, LGBT leaders are singing a different tune. As hundreds of cases course through New York City and other metropolises, with virtually all of them detected in gay men, suddenly not only is monkeypox a ‘queer’ disease, community leaders are blasting local health departments for failing to adequately treat the LGBT community,” according to the Post.

“Even the lack of sufficient monkeypox vaccines — along with a bungled vaccination roll-out across the US — was down to, you guessed it, ‘homophobia,’ according to a Los Angeles Times headline last week, along with a ‘collective indifference that stems from the disease largely hitting LGBTQ communities.'”

So first it was homophobic to link monkeypox to homosexuals, but now it’s homophobic to not do anything about monkeypox affecting homosexuals — though you’re still not supposed to directly reference gay people (“certain at-risk groups”).

Critics in the public wish Hochul would tackle this issue independently instead of declaring yet another emergency. Their worry, and it’s likely justified, is that she’ll once again overstep her authority and force authoritarian diktats on everybody.

They also say that it’s troubling that she and other Democrat governors are so eagerly rushing to declare an emergency over monkeypox yet won’t say a single thing about skyrocketing crime, drug, and illegal migration.
