Ted Cruz lights up Mayorkas in RED HOT grilling on border, children being sold into sex slavery

Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas was questioned by Senate Judiciary Committee Republicans on Tuesday during a hearing on border security, defending his record amidst intensifying criticism and under the cloud of potentially being impeached, and in several heated exchanges, President Joe Biden’s top immigration official was repeatedly pummeled by Senator Ted Cruz.

While the crisis at the southern border rages with illegal immigration including criminals pouring into the country along with a tide of deadly fentanyl which continues to contribute to the deaths of thousands of Americans, the embattled bureaucrat was forced to defend his job performance which he struggled to do while the Texas Republican peeled the bark off of him during an extended scourging that lasted over 11 minutes.

During his grilling, Mayorkas repeatedly refused to give a direct answer on whether there is a crisis on the southern border, a simple yes or no question to which the answer should have been obvious, as was done by the Biden administration’s Border Patrol chief who in a deposition last July, acknowledged that a crisis situation did, in fact, exist at the southern border, a statement that Cruz brought up as he confronted the DHS boss over his “wiggle words” in a futile effort to get him on record.

Later during the questioning, Cruz tried to pin the Democratic Party apparatchik down on the influx of dangerous criminals who have gained entry into the U.S. by mixing with migrants seeking asylum.

“Let me ask you, we now have over 5.5 million people who have entered this country illegally under Joe Biden. How many murderers have you released into America?” Cruz inquired.

“Senator, I’m not aware of any murderer we’ve released into the…” Mayorkas stuttered, ducking the senator’s question.

“So you don’t know?” Cruz shot back as he continued to pound away, at one point telling the DHS chieftain that he doesn’t get to give a speech,” as in addition to murderers, the GOP lawmaker prodded him for a number on terrorists, rapists, and child molesters who have been released into the country, to which Mayorkas declined to give a direct answer.

Near the end of the round of questioning, Sen. Cruz confronted Mayorkas over color-coded wristbands that are regularly discovered at the border, a method of tracking utilized by the Mexican cartels that the secretary seemed clueless as to their significance.

“You don’t know what they are. Mr. Secretary, you just testified to the American people. You’re incompetent at your job,” Cruz said “I’ve been to the southern border. And if you go to the southern border, along the southern border, you see thousands of these wristbands because the illegal immigrants wear them. The drug cartels, every color corresponds to how many thousands of dollars they owe the cartels. You have turned these cartels into multibillion-dollar criminal organizations and these are modern-day leg irons because they are children being sold into sex slavery and you don’t even know what they are,” Cruz thundered, holding up one of the bands and shaking it for effect.

“This is astonishing!” Cruz added. “Mr. Secretary, how many children have been sold into sex slavery under your administration?”

Mayorkas attempted to defend himself, saying that “we are taking to the cartels” which didn’t satisfy the senator.

“How many children have been sold into slavery? Do you know how many children have been sold into sex slavery?” Cruz persisted as Mayorkas mumbled excuses.

“Mr. Secretary, I want to say to you right now, your behavior is disgraceful. And the deaths, the children assaulted, the children raped, they are at your feet. And if you had integrity, you would resign,” Cruz raged. “The men and women of the Border Patrol, they’ve never had a political leader undermine them. They despise you, Mr. Secretary, because you’re willing to let children be raped to follow political orders. This is a crisis. It’s a disgrace. And you won’t even admit this human tragedy is a crisis.”

“What the senator said was revolting. I’m not gonna address it,” whined Mayorkas after he took his lumps.
