Top medical school pushes puberty blockers for kids, claims body mass index is racist

The Washington University of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri, went all-in this summer on “woke” ideology, offering a double feature of “Health Equity and Justice” and “Care of Transgender Patients” courses, which one medical advocacy group warns promotes “highly political and divisive ideologies” to its would-be doctors.

Fox News Digital obtained PowerPoint presentation slides that were shown to students in August, and they paint a disturbing picture for those who may later encounter one of the school’s graduates.

The university is urging its students to “advocate for cross-sex hormones despite acknowledging the lack of evidence on its neural impact and admitting its effect on neural circuity is ‘unknown,'” the outlet reports.

Another slide that stresses “health equity” argues that nutrition is racist.

“The slide contains a TikTok video explaining that the white doctor who first determined how many calories a day are needed in order to survive, Dr. Lionel Bradley Pett, ‘found out exactly what it took to keep the human body alive by starving native children to death,'” according to Fox. “After the speaker in the TikTok video outlines experiments carried out in Canada, he concludes by saying, ‘And that’s how the deaths of indigenous children became today’s moment in White History. Happy Indigenous Heritage Month.'”

The Body Mass Index (BMI) should stand for “badly mistaken idea,” another slide states, because “current BMIs are based on the imagined ‘ideal’ caucasian and do not consider a person’s gender or ethnicity.”

Dr. Stanley Goldfarb is chairman of Do No Harm, a “diverse group of physicians, healthcare professionals, medical students, patients, and policymakers united by a moral mission: Protect healthcare from a radical, divisive, and discriminatory ideology.”

According to the group’s website, “We believe in making healthcare better for all – not undermining it in pursuit of a political agenda.”

Goldfarb pointed to the established effects of a high BMI.

“There is no disputing that individuals who have high body mass index (BMI) have an increased risk of cardiovascular disease,” he told Fox News Digital.

“Trying to deny this well-established observation is counterproductive and unscientific,” he stated. “While there is no reason to discriminate against individuals who have high body mass index, it is equally important not to dismiss the significance of BMI concerns, especially in children. Providing interventions that educate children about healthy eating habits is crucial for their long-term well-being.”

Goldfarb noted that the university’s curriculum “appears to actively promote highly political and divisive ideologies to its students.”

“Most concerning is their persistent advocacy for the use of puberty blockers in children, a stance that now violates Missouri law, which opposes such treatment for children,” he said. “This law aligns with the best scientific evidence, as determined by five European nations whose healthcare systems have conducted thorough and systematic research.”

Washington University’s transgender center, in response to Missouri’s new law that “created a new legal claim for patients who received these medications as minors,” announced in a September statement that it “will no longer prescribe puberty blockers or cross-sex hormones to minors for purposes of gender transition.”

“We are disheartened to have to take this step,” the center said.

Medical schools nationwide are “devoting more and more time to these social and political issues,” Goldfarb warned, “leaving less time for the study of medicine.”
