Trump calls for ‘cease fire,’ demands Zelenskyy ‘stop the fighting’ in Ukraine

President Donald Trump reiterated his call for peace in Ukraine after Friday’s confrontational meeting between him and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Speaking from outside the White House sometime after the meeting concluded, Trump stressed that the only way America will continue helping Ukraine is if Zelenskyy drops the tough guy act and immediately agrees to work with the U.S. to reach a ceasefire deal with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“We’re looking for peace,” he said. “We’re not looking for somebody that’s going to sign up [to receive help from] a strong power and then not make peace because they feel emboldened, and that’s what I saw happening. I’m looking for peace.”

“We’re not looking to go into a 10-year war and play games. We want peace, and it was just my impression that if we do that, if we sign up [to further help Ukraine], he’s looking for something that I’m not looking for. He’s looking to go on and fight, fight, fight. We’re looking to end the death. Two thousand died this week. Young Ukrainians and Russians.”

Pressed by reporters slightly later, Trump again emphasized the need for peace.

“I want anybody that’s going to make peace,” he said. “If he’s capable of making peace, which he may or may not be, but I want somebody that’s going to make peace. Again, he doesn’t have the cards. He’s gotta stop the fighting, stop the death. He’s losing hundreds of thousands of soldiers. It’s time to stop the death.”

Trump also claimed that Zelenskyy has no interest in a ceasefire.

“They should have an immediate ceasefire, a ceasefire could take place immediately … but he doesn’t want to do that,” Trump said. “That’s fine. Do a better deal. I want it to end immediately. I want a ceasefire now. He says, ‘Oh, I don’t want a ceasefire.’”

“Well, all of a sudden he’s a big shot because he has the U.S. on his side. Either we’re going to end it or let him fight it out. And if he fights it out, it’s not going to be pretty because … without us, he doesn’t win, let me tell you,” the president added.

The remarks came after a heated Oval Office meeting that devolved into a shouting match between Zelenskyy, Trump, and Vice President JD Vance.

Following the meeting, virtually all of Europe came to Zelenskyy’s defense, with officials from the European Union, the U.K., France, Norway, Poland, and Germany lecturing the U.S. about the alleged danger Putin poses to everybody, not just Ukraine.

Meanwhile, here in the states, many came out in support of Trump and Vance, arguing that it was Zelenskyy’s bad attitude and disrespectful behavior that had led to the blow up.

Stunningly, even Sen. Lindsey Graham, a huge Ukraine groupie, found Zelenskyy’s behavior offputting.

“What I saw in the Oval Office was disrespectful, and I don’t know if we could ever do business with Zelenskyy again,” he told reporters late Friday. “I think most Americans saw a guy that they would not want to go into business with, the way he handled the meeting.”
