Trump defends Slick Willie over Epstein dump pics

The latest trove of documents related to Jeffrey Epstein found President Donald Trump worried “you can ruin a reputation” as he made specific comments about former President Bill Clinton.

In accordance with the Epstein Files Transparency Act, the Department of Justice worked to meet a disclosure deadline on Friday by releasing many files — with considerable redactions — related to the late convicted sex offender. Among the documents were numerous pictures of Clinton, including alongside unidentified females, leading Trump to voice his disappointment in their release.

“No, I don’t like the pictures of Bill Clinton being shown,” the president told a reporter Monday from Mar-a-Lago as he took questions following an announcement on the construction of new battleships for the U.S. Navy. “I don’t like the pictures of other people being shown. I think it’s a terrible thing.”

“He can probably handle it, but you probably have pictures being exposed of other people that innocently met Jeffrey Epstein years ago,” the chief executive continued as he suggested any number of respected people who simply knew Epstein could be implicated over an innocent connection.

As had been reported, the released documents included images of Clinton in a bathing suit, swimming in a pool, and lounging in a hot tub along with an unidentified woman, as well as now-convicted sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell. Others show him palling around in Epstein’s orbit with celebrities like Michael Jackson, Mick Jagger, and Diana Ross.

“I believe they gave over 100,000 pages of documents. And there is tremendous backlash, it’s an interesting question, because a lot of people are very angry that pictures are being released of other people that really had nothing to do with Epstein,” Trump went on to say of the pictures after he slighted Kentucky Rep. Thomas Massie (R) who had teamed with California Rep. Ro Khanna (D) toward advancing the Epstein Files Transparency Act.

“… you ruin a reputation of somebody …” expressed the president. “A lot of people are very angry that this continues.”

After initially spinning the release as an attempt by the White House at “shielding themselves from what comes next, or from what they’ll try and hide forever,” Clinton’s Deputy Chief of Staff Angel Ureña released a new statement Monday suggesting a cover-up was at hand.

“… what the Department of Justice has released so far, and the manner in which it did so, makes one thing clear: someone or something is being protected. We do not know who, what, or why. But we do know this: We need no such protection.

Ureña went on to call for the release of any and all “materials referring to, mentioning, or containing a photograph of Bill Clinton,” arguing, “Refusal to do so will confirm the widespread suspicion the Department of Justice’s actions to date are not about transparency, but about insinuation — using selective releases to imply wrongdoing about individuals who have already been repeatedly cleared by the very same Department of Justice, over many years, under Presidents and Attorneys General of both parties.”

Meanwhile, the reputational fallout remained evident for Clinton as CNN senior political commentator Scott Jennings said after the release, “Regarding Bill Clinton, I’m sorry to tell you, the reason that Bill Clinton’s picture is in the Epstein files is because this has always been a story about Bill Clinton and not Donald Trump.”

We should call it the Clinton files, not the Epstein files,” continued Jennings. “That’s what we’re learning tonight. This is the Clinton files. This was blowing up in the face of the Democrats … It’s Bill Clinton, this is a story about Democrats and Bill Clinton. And it’s always been that way.”
