Trump does it again, humiliates Big Gretch during Michigan event

Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s White House aspirations took another big hit after President Donald J. Trump praised her at a Tuesday event and invited her to speak, greatly embarrassing the Democrat, who was caught completely off guard.

The president traveled to the Wolverine State, where he spoke to service members at Selfridge Air National Guard Base near Detroit, with the governor in attendance, when he unexpectedly gave her a shout-out and turned the podium over to the surprised Whitmer, who awkwardly admitted she wasn’t expecting to speak.

“I want to thank Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer,” Trump began. “You know, I’m not supposed to do that. She’s a Democrat. They say, ‘Don’t do that, don’t have her here.’ I said, ‘No, she’s going to be here… she’s done a very good job.’”

“For decades, they’ve been trying to save this facility,” Trump added, “including your governor, who has done a very good job. She came to see me. That’s the reason she came to see me, by the way, to save Selfridge. She was very effective.”

The flummoxed “Big Gretch” had no choice but to take center stage

“Well, I hadn’t planned to speak…,” she painfully began in a special moment that quickly went viral on social media. “But on behalf of all the men and women who have served… I really am damn happy we’re here.”

The president’s compliments of Whitmer aren’t going to endear her to the rabid Trump-haters of the Democrat base who were already furious over her recent appearance in the Oval Office with Trump when he praised her for doing an “excellent job” and being a “good person.” It was unwanted attention for a woman who has designs on leading the angry anti-Trump army in 2028.

At the time, Whitmer knew that the appearance would spell trouble with the base and tried to hide behind a folder. But the damage was done with one Democrat operative who admires the Michigan lockdown queen describing it as a “Just a f—ing disaster,” in non-sugarcoated comments to NBC News.

Whitmer and her team flew into damage control mode, suggesting that she was ambushed by Trump, but her warm reception of the president when he arrived in Michigan on Tuesday isn’t going to be easily explained away to the lunatic fringe Democrat base.

“My job is to do the right thing for the people of Michigan,” Whitmer told the Associated Press. “I’m not thinking about anything beyond that, and I know it’s hard for people to get their head around.”

“I had to be there because this was a big, important thing for the state of Michigan,” she added. “Now, he is going to go off to the rally and say a lot of things I disagree with, that I’ll fight against, and that’s fine, but, you know, my job is to do everything I can for the people of Michigan.”
