President Donald Trump’s endeavor to “clean house” swept through one department “politicized like never before” as a separate agency official’s departure begged the question, “resigned or got fired?”
Delayed confirmations and court-shopping for injunctions to obstruct the administration have failed to slow the progress of the GOP leader determined to drain the swamp. Tuesday, this included moves impacting the Department of Justice and the Social Security Administration as “Biden Era” prosecutors were given the boot and a career official showed herself the door.
Regarding the DOJ, the president announced on Truth Social, “Over the past four years, the Department of Justice has been politicized like never before. Therefore, I have instructed the termination of ALL remaining ‘Biden Era’ U.S. Attorneys.”
“We must ‘clean house’ IMMEDIATELY, and restore confidence,” he continued. “America’s Golden Age must have a fair Justice System — THAT BEGINS TODAY!”
Such was the charge of Attorney General Pam Bondi who, in addition to seeing to the president’s wishes to end weaponization within the Justice Department, wasted no time after her confirmation in filing suit against states that stood in opposition to the America First agenda, namely by hampering efforts at mass deportation.
“This is a new DOJ,” Bondi said when a suit against New York followed one against Illinois. “We are taking steps to protect Americans, American citizens, and angel moms.”
Prior to Trump’s announcement, a number of U.S. attorneys had already made their exit as the Southern District of New York’s Danielle Sassoon stepped down when the White House instructed charges be dropped against New York City Mayor Eric Adams and Washington, D.C.’s Denise Cheung left following instructions to probe funding of the Environmental Protection Agency under then-President Joe Biden.
Also showing herself the door, acting Social Security Administration Commissioner Michelle King reportedly resigned Monday in protest of efforts by Elon Musk and the Department of Government Efficiency to weed out any potential waste, fraud, or abuse.
The president was asked to react to the departure Tuesday during a press conference at his Palm Beach, Florida residence Mar-a-Lago as a reporter sought, “Your reaction to Michelle King, the head, resigning after-”
“Who resigned?” challenged Trump as the questioner noted, “The head of Social Security.”

“I don’t know. I mean, — resigned or got fired? I think got fired,” suggested the GOP leader. “You know, when you fire somebody, they always resign and then they say, ‘We resigned.'”
During his remarks, the president read some of the figures uncovered by the DOGE detailing millions of individuals aged 100- to 149 years old and thousands more who are older than that remaining on the rolls of Social Security, wondering if those individuals were still being sent benefits.
The team at @DOGE has uncovered that millions of people are on the Social Security rolls who are no longer alive:
From 120-129 years old: 3,472,000
From 130-139 years old: 3,936,000
From 140-149 years old: 3,542,000

“But, when you have numbers like that,” continued Trump on King’s departure, “I think, really, it’s got fired. They have to get fired. Who would keep them? How could you have numbers like this? Now the big thing is, how many of these people got paid? Were they getting paid? How many of them were getting paid Social Security? Because if that’s the case, it’s a massive fraud.”
Similarly, Jim Jones, head of the Food and Drug Administration’s food division, resigned as staffers were cut from the agency claiming the terminations were “indiscriminate.”
In response to King leaving SSA, White House spokesperson Harrison Fields stated Monday, “President Trump has nominated the highly qualified and talented Frank Bisignano to lead the Social Security Administration, and we expect him to be swiftly confirmed in the coming weeks. In the meantime, the agency will be led by a career Social Security anti-fraud expert as the acting commissioner.”
“President Trump is committed to appointing the best and most qualified individuals who are dedicated to working on behalf of the American people, not to appease the bureaucracy that has failed them for so long,” he added.
