Trump has NC man who lost home name insurance company denying his payout

President Donald Trump was on the ground in North Carolina talking to the victims of Hurricane Helene, and he is not messing around.

During his trip, all eyes turned to insurance companies as Trump encouraged one man to name the company that had denied giving him a payout, which proved to be an unfortunate occurrence for North Carolina Farm Bureau.

Watch:

Shortly after that video was posted, Senator Josh Hawley of Missouri called on insurance companies withholding assistance from suffering Americans to testify under oath before Congress.

“Earlier this year, American communities were devastated by Hurricanes Helene and Milton. Countless Americans lost loved ones, homes, businesses, and beloved towns in the violence of the storm. Now, all across the eastern seaboard, thousands are struggling to recover and rebuild their lives,” the letter reads.

“Widespread reports indicate that some companies are standing in the way. Seizing the opportunity to limit their own liabilities, insurance companies processing claims related to these hurricanes are reportedly engaged in a pattern of denying homeowner insurance claims. If this is true, Americans who’ve already lost nearly everything now face the ultimate insult: Loss of any chance to rebuild. They will be left with virtually nothing,” it continues.

“These reports are outrageous. Americans purchase insurance so that when disaster strikes, they and their loved ones will have some recourse. That is the reason insurance companies exist in the first place,” Hawley reminded them. “Denying coverage to American policyholders, at a time when so many of them have been displaced and left grieving, is not merely a betrayal – it is morally obscene.”

“In the wake of these reports of denials of coverage, I invite you to publicly testify before the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Subcommittee on Disaster Management, which has jurisdiction over disaster recovery efforts,” the letter concludes, asking three very important questions.

While Americans are outraged that insurance companies appear to be standing in the way of substantial recovery progress in the devastated region, some are looking into how to honor those who help.

Freshman Rep. Addison McDowell, R-N.C., recently introduced legislation that would rename the Dulles International Airport after Trump.

“We have entered the golden age of America largely thanks to President Trump’s leadership,” McDowell explained during a Thursday press release. “It is only right that the two airports servicing our nation’s capital are duly honored and respected by two of the best presidents to have the honor of serving our great nation.”

Should the legislation be signed into law, the Dulles airport would be renamed to the “Donald J. Trump International Airport.”

Rep. Guy Reschanthaler, R-Pa., signed on to the legislation and said the act would “cement [Trump’s] status in our nation’s capital as our fearless commander-in-chief, extraordinary leader, and relentless champion for the American people.”
