Trump mocks his iconic hairstyle in Grand Rapids: ‘That’s very severe, that comb-over!’

In his first rally since being targeted by an assassin, former President Donald Trump seemed no worse for the wear after being struck in his right ear by a bullet — at least, his sense of humor was intact.

Trump and Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH), his recently named vice presidential running mate, traveled to Grand Rapids, Michigan, and spoke before a large crowd at an indoor rally. At one point, Trump noticed himself on a video monitor and began mocking his iconic hairstyle.

“The screen up there of me – that’s very severe, that comb-over,” Trump said, to the amusement of the crowd. “That’s a — that’s a severe sucker. What’s with that one?”

“It looks okay from the other side,” he continued, turning to face the cameras behind him. “But that is very severe. I apologize, man. I looked up there. I said, ‘Whoa, look at that.’ Wow, that’s like a work of art.”

He then jokingly told the crowd to ignore the monitor he first pointed to and only look at the monitor to his left, which he felt displayed a more favorable image.

Trump was sporting a smaller bandage on his injured ear, but seemed to be in good spirits. At another point the 2024 Republican presidential nominee spotted a random union guy in the crowd that he had encountered at a another rally a while back and invited him up on the stage.

“Are you the same guy?” he asked after spotting  the man, prompting the union worker to confirm that he was.

“Pretty good memory,” Trump said, pointing to his head. He then quipped, “Unlike someone I happen to be running against.”

After telling the man to come up on stage and informing security not to worry because he has no gun, Trump let the man speak to the crowd.

While shaking hands, the man told Trump, “I’m glad to see you! I’m glad to see you!”

“I’m glad to see this guy,” the union worker tells the crowd, before exiting. “I told you we are going to get 85 million people out there to vote for him, so lets go home from this rally and do our part!”

Here’s a quick sampling of responses to the story, as seen on the social media platform X:
