Trump says ‘CNN should be ashamed of themselves’ for Harris interview: ‘It’s much easier to be a Democrat’

The former president called out CNN after their “always nasty” anchor’s interview with his “lightweight” rival: “It’s much easier to be a Democrat.”

After weeks of avoiding unscripted public appearances, Vice President Kamala Harris kept the basement campaign rolling with a pre-taped, tag team interview alongside her running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz. Former President Donald Trump brought up the favorable treatment from CNN’s Dana Bash while speaking at a rally in Johnstown, Pennsylvania when he asserted, “I think CNN should be ashamed of themselves.”

“What they’ve done to our country is incredible. What is Kamala, who’s a total lightweight — did you see her on television last night? This is gonna be the president — this is gonna be the president of our country?” posited an incredulous Trump of the Democratic Party’s pick for nominee. “I don’t think so.”

“Sitting propped up in a desk with this guy, this Tampon Tim. Tampon. And it’s the first interview she’s done in, like, nobody’s ever seen anything like it,” he went on of the sit-down interview that was said to have been edited down from 45 minutes to roughly 18 minutes.

“And if you’re too weak to do a one-on-one interview with a person that was so soft. You know, I know Dana. She’s always, you know, always nasty,” said Trump who’d previously remarked on the “fair” treatment he’d received during the June debate with President Joe Biden.”She was so nice to the Democrats. It’s much easier to be a Democrat, but we don’t agree on their policies because their policies will destroy our nation. So we can’t do that. We can’t do that. But, it was a very weak interview from the standpoint of CNN. I think CNN should be ashamed of themselves.”

Drawing a contrast, Trump suggested, altering his voice for effect, “If that were me, ‘Sir, I heard you want the death penalty for drug dealers, why?’ Well, you know, I’d like to end the drug epidemic, if that’s okay.”

While the GOP leader went on to present figures that suggest every drug dealer is responsible for the death of 500 people, devastating families and communities, he had further criticized Harris when he spoke at the Moms for Liberty national summit in Washington, D.C. later Friday.

“Now everyone’s watching and now we see she’s defective,” he said during the discussion from the stage. “She’s a defective person, and we don’t need another defective person as president of the United States. We’ve just had that.”

Hammering home the point, the Trump campaign even shared a highlight reel of coverage that featured a number of CNN talking heads criticizing the performance of Harris and Walz despite the low bar saying, “They basically got through it.”

“The reviews are in,” wrote the campaign account on X while Trump shared a meme on Truth Social ridiculing the inclusion of Walz after going without an interview. “Kamala’s CNN interview was a total failure. She is weak, failed, and dangerously liberal.”
