‘What is happening here!?’ Furious Pelosi blasts SCOTUS, Trump, McConnell over ‘cruel’ Roe ruling

Speaker Nancy Pelosi was in a foul mood while speaking to reporters on Capitol Hill after the Supreme Court of the United States officially reversed its decision on the landmark Roe v Wade case that made having an abortion a constitutional right.

“There’s no point in saying good morning because it certainly is not one,” Pelosi spewed from the lectern. “This morning, the radical Supreme Court is eviscerating American rights and endangering their health and safety.”

“Today, the Republican-controlled Supreme Court has achieved the GOP’s dark and extreme goal of ripping away women’s right to make their own reproductive health decisions. Because of Donald Trump, Mitch McConnell, the Republican Party and their supermajority on the Supreme Court, American women today have less freedom than their mothers,” she added.

The court’s decision was widely expected after a majority opinion draft on overturning Roe was leaked earlier this year, and on Friday the high court issued its official ruling on Dobbs v Jackson Women’s Health Organization, a case that centered around the state of Mississippi outlawing abortion after 15 weeks of pregnancy.

“The Constitution does not confer a right to abortion: Roe and Casey are overruled; and the authority to regulate abortion is returned to the people and their elected representatives,” Justice Samuel Alito said in the decision.

Pelosi said the “cruel ruling is outrageous and heart-wrenching, adding, “The hypocrisy is raging, but the harm is endless.”

The emotional 82-year-old speaker expressed great contempt for former President Donald Trump and now-Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, who are responsible for three of the six jurists who voted to overturn Roe.

“We are not going to let this pass. A woman’s right to choose,” she added, before exploiting the electoral opportunity. “Reproductive freedom is on the ballot in November. We cannot allow them to take charge so that they can institute their goal, which is to criminalize reproductive freedom, to criminalize it.”

Democrats are expected to take a shellacking in the midterm elections losing control of both chambers of Congress, and pundits see abortion as a potential saving grace for the party.

Ratcheting up the expected fearmongering over a decision that is the ultimate yield to democracy,  allowing the states to decide, Pelosi offered her spin on events while attacking Republicans, claiming they are “plotting a nationwide abortion ban.”

“Right now they’re saying in states that they can arrest doctors and all the rest,” she said. “What is happening here?! What is happening is a woman’s fundamental health decisions are her own to make in consultation with her doctor, her faith, her family, not some right-wing politicians that Donald Trump and Mitch McConnell pack the court with while Republicans seek to punish and control women.”

“Democrats will keep fighting ferociously to enshrine Roe v Wade in the law of the land. This court ruling is outrageous and heart-wrenching,” Pelosi said. “But make no mistake again. It’s all on the ballot in November. Supreme Court has ended a constitutional right. This is 50 years proclaimed a constitutional right. What happened today was historic in many respects, historic in that it had not granted recognized a constitutional right and then reversed it. This is a first and again, just before it imposed a constitutional right to allow for concealed weapons.”

With plenty of focus on so-called insurrections these days, 83-year-old U.S. Rep. Maxine Waters, D-Calif., said hold my beer and tweeted:
