A swipe from one running mate to the other had Ohio Sen. J.D. Vance’s commentary on Vice President Kamala Harris’ career of falling up tease the birth of a potential new nickname.

A Saturday stop in Grand Rapids, Michigan marked the freshman senator’s first official rally since joining former President Donald Trump on the Republican ticket. As the crowd of supporters embraced the 39-year-old veteran, author, businessman and lawmaker, he wasted little time in countering a slight attributed to his current rival.
Vance wasted no time after marking the “blessed week” to be tapped by Trump and the importance of winning Michigan to point out, “There’s some bad news, actually. The vice president, Kamala Harris, she doesn’t like me.”
“Kamala Harris said something to the effect that I have no loyalty to this country. Well, I don’t know, Kamala, I did serve in the United States Marine Corps and build a business,” he reminded before countering, “What the hell have you done other than collect a check?”
After earning a “USA!” chant, the senator continued tongue-in-cheek, “What has she done other than collect the check from her political offices? And we have to, we have to give her credit, my friends. She did serve as border czar during the biggest disaster, open border that we’ve ever had in this country.”
“Let’s get President Trump back there, close down that border and bring some common sense and security to this country,” he emphasized.
Reacting to Vance’s take on Biden’s vice president, admittedly selected on the basis of her skin color and gender, users on social media sounded off and toyed with a potential new nickname for the incumbent: “Kamala Kollectacheck — gotta…nice ring to it.”

The dig at the incumbent vice president came as questions remained as to whether or not the Democratic Party ticket would remain as stated, or if the waning viability of the “‘Weekend at Bernie’s’ presidency” would prove sufficient to force President Joe Biden to step away from the re-election race.
The Trump-Vance team had reminded about the disarray on the left in a statement responding to Harris’ willingness to participate in a vice presidential debate CBS News had announced it would air on Aug. 12, one week prior to the opening of the Democratic National Convention.
“We don’t know who the Democrat nominee for Vice President is going to be,” said senior Trump campaign adviser Brian Hughes in a statement Wednesday, “so we can’t lock in a date before the convention.”
“To do so would be unfair to Gavin Newsom, JB Pritzker, Gretchen Whitmer, or whoever Kamala Harris picks as her running mate,” the statement added, suggesting it was only a matter of time before Biden was dropped from the top of the ticket.
Meanwhile, as polling revealed that 65% of Democrats wanted to see someone other than the incumbent named as their presidential nominee and 58% suggested Harris would serve well in the role, Biden-Harris campaign spokesman Brian Fallon had attempted to clapback, “Donald Trump is the one whose campaign said he would debate ‘anytime, anyplace’ and who picked JD Vance specifically for his debating skills.”
“Now suddenly right after a damning new leak showing his support for a nationwide abortion ban, Vance is backing off a debate against Vice President Harris, who has spent the last two years prosecuting the case on behalf of reproductive freedom,” the statement added. “This debate has been discussed for two months now. If JD Vance is unwilling to defend the Trump-Vance record on the debate stage, he should just say so.”
