White House gets letter by 100+ ex-officials

One-hundred and sixteen former Biden and Obama officials sent a letter to the White House supporting Biden’s decisions concerning the conflict in Israel.

The letter comes as liberals try to accuse Biden of “genocide” for standing with Israel.

“We are writing to express our deep appreciation for your moral clarity, courageous leadership, and staunch support of Israel, one of our nation’s strongest allies,” the letter reads.

“To those blaming Israel alone for this violence or excusing the atrocities including rape and beheading as ‘resistance,’ we want to be very clear: there is no moral equivalence between Israel and Hamas, a designated terrorist organization responsible for mass atrocities,” it said.

“No aspect of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict justifies Hamas’s unconscionable war crimes on October 7 and the destruction it has caused in Gaza in the weeks before and since,” the letter contended.

The number of signatories to the letter has now grown to 127 according to NewsNation. They include former White House Chief of Staff Ron Klain, former Treasury Secretary Lawrence Summers, former Under Secretary of Defense for Policy Colin Kahl, three current members of Congress, 18 former ambassadors, and many other former high-level administration officials.

According to the New York Times, over 500 U.S. officials sent a letter to Biden Tuesday criticizing his policy in the Israel-Hamas war and calling for an immediate cease-fire exposing a deep rift in the Biden administration between those supporting Israel and those who don’t. Those individuals represent 40 government agencies and many signed other letters anonymously fearing retribution.

“We call on President Biden to urgently demand a cease-fire, and to call for de-escalation of the current conflict by securing the immediate release of the Israeli hostages and arbitrarily detained Palestinians; the restoration of water, fuel, electricity, and other basic services; and the passage of adequate humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip,” the letter demanded.

While the pressure piles on for Biden to call for a cease-fire, those who signed the letter in support of the president’s stance on Israel assert that a “ceasefire is not possible at this time,” but they encourage “humanitarian pauses.”

“We support your request for an unprecedented $14.3 billion in U.S. security assistance to Israel, and hope Congress approves this funding to ensure the continuation of essential and life-saving military aid bolstering Israel’s security and right to self-defense,” the letter added.

On Thursday, Biden asserted that there was “no possibility” of a cease-fire. He is urging the Israeli government to agree to brief cessations of military operations in Gaza to facilitate the release of hostages as well as allowing humanitarian aid to be distributed.

“In Congress, the issue has inflamed underlying tensions within the House Democratic Caucus, a debate that has fallen along ideological, generational, and even racial lines. Democratic leaders have been eager to keep a lid on the tensions and have intervened directly, spilling into public view as 22 Democrats joined Republicans last week to censure Michigan Democratic Rep. Rashida Tlaib, a Palestinian American, over her use of a phrase many see as a call for the destruction of the Jewish state,” CNN reported.

“That division reflects deepening divides among Democratic voters on Biden’s handling of the situation. Polling from The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research last week found that 46% of Democrats disapprove of how Biden has navigated the conflict, compared to 50% of Democrats who approve,” the news outlet continued.

Secretary of State Antony Blinken admitted there are disagreements within the State Department over the Biden administration’s approach to the Israel-Hamas war in an email to staff on Monday.

“Some people in the Department may disagree with approaches we are taking or have views on what we can do better,” Blinken stated in his email, announcing that forums have been organized so that employees can provide feedback on the issue.
