President Trump and first lady Melania Trump spent Thursday evening passing out candy to children visiting the White House to celebrate Halloween.
The first couple joyfully received young trick-or-treaters, despite Trump having just returned from a 5-day trip to Asia — the president, who was rocking a red “USA” hat with “45-47” emblazoned on the side, logged 41 hours of travel on Air Force One this week, returning to the White House less than 3 hours before festivities began.
The children were reportedly from military families, law enforcement families, foster and adoptive families, and Trump administration officials brought their children as well.
The enchanting evening was summed up well by The Daily Wire’s Megan Basham, who posted on X, “Wholesome. Miraculous. Something to celebrate.”
I’m honestly sitting here looking at this, thinking about how this man survived two assassination attempts and triumphed over the whole of the political establishment and its corrupt law enforcement apparatus to be handing out candy to kids at the White House tonight.

Not only was Trump handing out candy, he also distributed a hug or two — an occasion that the media would be gushing over if Trump were a Democrat.

The first lady had a beautiful moment that would have also drawn wall-to-wall media coverage under that scenario, when she comforted a young girl who was frightened by the spooky spectacle around her.
Just look at this photo. This is so beautiful.
When this young child was in tears, frightened by Halloween decorations,
First Lady Melania Trump got down on her level to comfort her.

There was another endearing moment when the candy distributor in chief was momentarily distracted, and a young trick-or-treater tugged on his sleeve to get the president back on the job.

The White House furthered the fun at the expense of Democrats, who are actively engaged in Schumer’s Shutdown, playing on a recent meme that went viral. In the clip, the Trumps distribute sombreros to Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY):

Here are some other clips of the evening, as seen on X, including a presidential high-five with a young man who dressed up as none other than President Trump himself:
