Woman smiles for mugshot photo following arrest for killing boyfriend with sword on Christmas eve

A Cape Girardeau, Mo., woman smiled broadly for her mugshot photo after police arrested her for fatally stabbing her boyfriend with a sword over the holiday.

City police were called to a residence shortly after 11 p.m. on Christmas Eve after the caller said that she had killed her boyfriend with the weapon. On arrival, officers found the suspect, Brittany Wilson of Cape Girardeau, standing in the doorway of the home with the sword laying on the front lawn nearby, KFVS reported.

In a report, officers said that they discovered the body of her boyfriend, Harrison Stephen Foster, 34, in a bedroom with what appeared to be several stab wounds. The outlet reported that Foster was dead by the time officers arrived.

Wilson told police that she thought Foster was possessed by several entities within him for the past several months and that she stabbed him to have the entities released. She also told officers that she and her deceased boyfriend had been using meth earlier in the day.

Police also said that Wilson told them Foster was harvesting body parts from other people.

The suspect said that after she allegedly stabbed Foster three times, she called officers who subsequently arrested her. She was charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action and was being held on a $2 million cash-only bond.

“On Friday, December 24, 2021, at approximately 11:05 pm, officers with the Cape Girardeau Police Department were dispatched to the area of Barberry near Quince Street for a report of suspicious activity. Upon arrival, officers located an adult female standing outside of a residence with apparent blood on her clothing,” the department noted on Facebook.

“The female subject was later identified as Brittany A. Wilson, a 32 year-old female from Cape Girardeau. Officers detained Wilson and additional officers entered the home to check upon the safety of any additional residents,” the post continued, adding: “Officers located a deceased male in the basement of the residence who had apparent, fresh stab wounds on his body.”

“Wilson was arrested and transported to the Cape Girardeau municipal jail where she was processed without incident. Cape Girardeau investigators presented the facts of this case to the Cape Girardeau County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office. The Honorable Judge Frank E. Miller has since issued a warrant on Wilson for Murder-1st Degree and Armed Criminal Action,” the Facebook post continued.

But it was Wilson’s eerie, smiling mugshot that drew a great deal of attention.
