Yuma families forced to take their security into their own hands as ‘new surge of illegals’ head to border

As former President Trump’s Title 42 rule comes to an end, communities such as Yuma, Arizona are being flooded with illegal immigrants and families are being forced to hire armed security to protect themselves, fearing for their safety.

“Two of these families down here actually had to hire private security guards — armed security guards — to keep people out of their yards,” a Yuma county supervisor named Jonathan Lines told Fox News in an interview. “They were constantly having people come into their homes, into their yards, and they were not very respectful.”

For perspective, almost 1 million of the 4 million illegal immigrants who have comes across the US border since President Biden took office have traveled through Arizona’s southern border, according to Customs and Border Protection. The Yuma sector had a 171 percent increase in illegal aliens coming across the border between 2021 and 2022.

In Yuma, residents had thousands of illegal aliens cross their property and farmland, Lines told Fox News. They damaged crops, overloaded available resources, and caused extreme safety concerns to families.

“We had people showing up to our … non-governmental organizations, the food bank, the mission asking for assistance,” he noted. “We had people showing up directly to the churches looking for assistance.”

Because of the massive numbers of migrants flooding the hospitals, some residents reportedly couldn’t receive medical assistance.

“I’ve received calls from people saying, ‘hey, I had to take my wife to San Diego to deliver a baby,’” Lines remarked. “‘I had to take my wife to Phoenix to deliver the baby because there were no more beds at this hospital.'”

Yuma is an agricultural community. So many illegal immigrants are trampling their crops that food production is reportedly in danger, not to mention the farms themselves.

“National security also relates to our food security,” Lines asserted, stating that Americans rely on Yuma’s food production.

“We need to give the men and women who put on the uniform every day for national security the tools that they need, both additional manpower and technology so that they can do their job and keep us safe,” he contended.

District Judge Emmet Sullivan in Washington, DC has ordered the lifting of Title 42 which rapidly expelled illegal immigrants. That’s a decision Texas Governor Greg Abbott called “disastrous.” Republicans are warning a new “surge” in illegal crossings could be imminent in the wake of the ruling, according to the Daily Mail.

“This will further signal to cartels, human smugglers, & illegal immigrants that the border is wide open – inciting more violence & lawlessness. Disastrous,” he tweeted.

A federal judge has just ended Title 42 and the Biden Administration has done absolutely nothing to prepare for this outcome,” the National Border Patrol Council tweeted. “If you think things are bad now, just wait for the sh!t show that’s coming.”

“This new massive wave of illegal aliens that is going to hit our country is brought to you courtesy of the ACLU. They love to romanticize criminals and vilify law enforcement,” they added.

Arizona Congressman Andy Biggs (R) branded it a “grave mistake.”

“An activist judge legislating from the bench just blocked the usage of Title 42 at the border amid a historic crisis,” he asserted. “This means millions of illegal aliens (many dangerous) will be allowed entry into the country. This decision is a grave mistake.”

Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) said, “Title 42 preserves our nation’s sovereignty. Our country has every right to protect that sovereignty, and we must support policies that put our national security first.”

Lee Gelernt, an attorney for the ACLU that specializes in migration cases, was ecstatic after the decision, “Title 42 was never about public health, and this ruling finally ends the charade of using Title 42 to bar desperate asylum seekers from even getting a hearing.”

He told CBS News, “This ruling is of enormous significance for asylum-seekers and will hopefully put an end to the misuse of public health laws to block desperate people from seeking protection.”

The Daily Mail is reporting that Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley (D-Mass.), who is a member of the “Squad,” also celebrated its repeal, claiming, “Title 42 is a racist policy created by Trump and weaponized against black and brown migrants. It should have never been implemented and I’m glad it’s coming to an end.”

Californian congresswoman Barbara Lee (D-Calif.) agreed, according to the media outlet, “Finally. #Title42 was a racist, xenophobic Trump-era policy that blocked asylum seekers from entry using a misguided public health rule. This decision is long overdue. Seeking asylum is a human right—one we must safeguard by reinstating humanitarian protections at the border.”
