Moments before YouTube personality Jack Doherty was arrested, he was seen in video footage exchanging words with Miami Beach police and challenging them to a “duel.”
The 22-year-old social media influencer and streamer with over 28 million followers was arrested Saturday after refusing to move when officers told him to stop standing in the middle of a street in Miami Beach.
Bodycam footage shows Doherty standing in the middle of Washington Avenue with his phone out, “blocking traffic and creating a dangerous situation for drivers and himself,” according to the Miami Beach Police Department.

Doherty reportedly “refused to comply” with officers’ commands, allegedly telling them, “Once I’m done with this bet.”
Videos posted on TikTok also showed the moment Doherty was handcuffed and the exchange with officers.
“I was trying to walk up the street,” he said as he tried using his phone.
“All you had to do was get on the f–king sidewalk, that’s it,” an officer told him.

In one video before being arrested, the YouTuber challenged the officers.
“All right, we challenge you to a duel,” he said as an officer is heard saying, “Guys, go on the sidewalk.”
“After we duel, sir,” Doherty insisted.
“I’m not gonna tell you again — go on the sidewalk,” the officer told him, as Doherty once again said, “Yes, sir, after we duel.”

“Upon his arrest for ‘deliberate refusal to follow lawful orders and continue to obstruct traffic,’ officers then found ‘half of an orange oval-shaped pill with 3 imprinted on it, consistent with a Schedule II amphetamine, as well as a black plastic container holding three hand-rolled suspected cannabis cigarettes weighing approximately 4.0 grams combined,'” Newsweek reported, citing arrest records.
Doherty faces a felony charge of possession of a controlled substance and two misdemeanor charges.
“The Miami Beach Police Department remains steadfast in its commitment to maintain public safety and order throughout the city—regardless of celebrity status. The department will continue to take proactive enforcement action against behavior that endangers residents, visitors, or officers and will hold all individuals accountable under the law,” the department said in a statement.
After being released, Doherty told WTVJ-TV the experience was “the worst 24 hours ever.”
“I think it was a little excessive, I’m not going to lie,” he told the outlet. “There was no traffic. It was three in the morning. I think they just wanted to lock me up, but fair enough, learned my lesson.”
This is not Doherty’s first run-in with the law, as last year, he crashed a $200,000 McLaren on a Florida highway while reportedly using his phone live-streaming.
