Psaki tells ‘pissed off’ Dems what they can do to cope after ‘devastating’ week, ‘margaritas’ make the list

After what was admittedly a really tough week, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki went on ‘The View’ Friday with a message for “pissed off” voting rights advocates following President Biden’s gaffe-filled speech on the subject earlier this week, urging them to “feel those emotions.”

The sage and somewhat snarky advice came after Republicans saved the filibuster and blocked both the disastrous Freedom to Vote Act and the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act, both of which would have dramatically altered the way in which American elections are held.

“Look, I think this week has been frustrating, devastating, angering, all of those things that everybody who’s been fighting for this…” Psaki said. “There’s so many activists across the country who have been so central to getting to this point… So my advice to everyone out there who is frustrated, sad, angry, pissed off, feel those emotions. Go to kickboxing class, have a margarita, do whatever you need to do this weekend, and then wake up on Monday morning. We got to keep fighting.”

By “fighting,” Psaki means permanently changing how we as Americans vote. “…we have to keep talking to members about federal legislation,” Psaki told guest-host Linsey Davis. “That’s essential. That’s something that can be permanent, that can make sure people’s rights are protected. But we also need to make sure people are educated, and states across the country, about what their rights are, how they can vote, when they can vote, how to request an absentee ballot. There’s a lot we need to do on that front, and that’s going to rely on the energy and the anger of that activism as well.”

Asked by the insufferable Joy Behar to state “what is salvageable” in Biden’s broken Build Back Better, Psaki responded, “I need a cup of coffee, Joy. I don’t know.”

“We’re dealing with some realities here… we only have 50 votes in the Senate. Every single one of them has to support it to move this forward,” she added.

While Jen did her best to stir up some optimism among her battered base, this tweet from one viewer seemed to best to sum up the public’s response:

“A margarita or two, by the way,” cracked Davis, off-camera, following Psaki’s message.

Let’s just hope Jen locates her lost shaker of salt.

By the looks of things, she’s gonna need it.
